King Tour PaK?
« on: January 20, 2007, 09:00:43 PM »

I need HELP !  I love the look of the chopped tour pak but the wife likes the back rest and arm supports that the king pak has.  I think both JR and Twolane have switched to the king for perhaps the same reason plus the added storage.  Did you order it pre painted from MOCO or take a king tour pak and have it custom painted?  Any advice from any others?  I would still want the detachable option because I usually ride one up without any tour pak.  Many thanks!!  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Willie, I much prefer the look of the chopped pak.  But you can't even put some half helmets in it.  I can't even close the lid with my niece's little kid sized helmet in it.  So while you can carry a little bit of flatter stuff in it; it's not an exceptionally effective storage device.  Even worse with a lid liner in it.

I ordered mine already painted.  Was just easier.  Got an extra detachable rack too so that both tour paks could go on and off at will.

Beagle bought a used Ultra-Classic King tour-pak on E-bay, had the bottom painted one solid color to match the bike and used the top from his chopped. The tops are the same. Saved some money that way and ended up with a UC style TC without all the hassle I'm going through cuttin up my non UC King TC

Also ditto. Know that the one you order already painted will not be the Ultra style w/ the lights. You'll also want to get the antenna parts and an interior light.

I got my King Tour Pak from Chicago HD and actually sold my chopped pak on ebay for more than what I paid for my King! I went with the lights on the back for more vision as there were a couple bikers rear ended her in Memphis. You loose some storage but still can fit a full face hemet and some change. Momma wanted the armrest backrest too! I love it and can pop it off when you want to go solo. I did not hook the antenna to my King pak. I bought a rubber antenna from autozone for like $6 that curls nicely under tour pak and makes it easier to remove tour pak. I added a deutz connector to the rear lights too!

Ordered my king tourpak when I purchased my scooter from MoCo already painted. I got the detachable docking hardware, antenna relocation kit and backrest at that time also. Only use it on trips, but it is definitely nice to have when needed.

My husband got the king tourpak for his 04 painted to match his bike, and it is so large and voluminous that for the 06 MV gathering, he was able to carry all the clothes for both of us, that we wanted for the whole week in it.  I was able to go backless on mine.  Now we still had the four saddlebags and he carried a few extra items in a t-bag too, but the smaller chopped tour pak, is handy, but for travel, it is all but useless.

I just added the King that I bought from a member here. Factory painted to match the SEEG. I hate the look, that giant box back there. I think the chopped "pizza box" tour pack looks awesome. Streamlined bagger, but, wanted to make it more comfortable for her. We havent tried it out yet, snow in AZ yesterday. But this weekend for sure.

I still have not decided... [smiley=nixweiss.gif]..to order it from moco already painted and with all the add-ons you need(back rest, hardware, detach kit, etc etc) it comes close to $1500 as I told twolane.
I could put a backrest with armrests on the chopped tp but that means drilling 4 new holes....don't want to do that.  Anyway I am still deliberating.  I don't like the look of the big box either but would like to have the better backrest for Susan.

CVO, I knew I would get that response/advice.  Tbone had some REAL costly advice....get a SEUC and keep my SEEG so I have both of the looks and functionality to choose from....just like he does. Besides, if you get the SEUC you'll still want the King Tour Pak [smiley=huepfenjump3.gif] ;D
