You probably meant to ask about the SE585 cam as they don't have a 285.  If so, we have installed quite a few of them and see great results as a bolt in for the 103 engines.  HD does say to change the valve springs in the 103's but 110's do not require the springs to be replaced. We have done a few with the high compression pistons and I have not been impressed with the results when compared to stock compression.  Also not impressed with it in the 110 engines.   We typically see about 94 hp and around 108 torque when used with the stock pistons.  The heat reduction is dramatic as well.

Yes, tried it.
Recommend it? It wasn't right for me.
Lower torque that I would like to see, TQ curve shape was good, noise out the breather at low speed.
My stock CVO made 103/105 with them Fullsac DX pipe 2" baffles

I know where you got 285 from. Misprint in the 2016 SE book lists a 285 cam in the 110" bolt on kit.

To optimize full potential of that grind, requires increased squish.. 10.5  is the sweet spot
I'd personally would have the heads ported/decked & run the flat tops, they burn more efficient IMO & of course a great tune is needed!

I enjoy my Harley 585 cams in both my bikes, I couldn't imagine riding without them. I have plenty more low end torque.

The stock cam is the torque winner down low.

But in my case I was looking for a stock replacement cam that was quiet and mellow down low plus had low noise out the breather.

Personally I would not run the SE585 at 10.5 but that is just me.

I have no tolerance for PMS. I get 1 month a year to ride and I just want to push the button and go and if I get stuck in traffic I am not going to stop and start the bike. I ride mostly 2 up. Plus I want to be able to take an occasional tank of less than great fuel.
The cam I choose was the Andrews 54 and I am happy, rest of the motor is stock with ward fans. Not sexy but it works and all of the valve train noise is now gone.

Any dyno charts with SE-585 cams?

Together cam set was coming instruction where MOCO recommended replace valve springs, because of coil binding will result. Do anyone knows what types of valve springs are used -13 CVO, RGC?

I am between two options, stock cr or 10,5:1 What are experiences on the cam, especially differences with stock compression ratio 9,2:1 and higher 10.5:1?

How do they compare to the 255's, from your perspective?  Thanks!

HD SE 585 cam
« Reply #12 on: October 08, 2015, 06:22:37 PM »

Hi

Have anybody experinces HD/SE 585 cams installation to cvo 110 engines.
Cam instuctions were mentioned that valve springs has to be replace. Because of cam lift 584 (original cvo has 255 cam with lift 556)
Engine is cvo -13 110. What springs folks has using in the 585 valves?( maker and maker#)
Then other topic is related compression ration. My plan is increase CR 10,5. What pistons makers had used( maker, possible part #)

Is anybody done dyno tests SE 585 cams snd possible with cr 10,5

You don't need to change springs and if you insist on 10.5 use HD Screaming Eagle pistons

At 10.5-10.7, I'd lean towards a T-Man .590 or a Wood 8.
