I have never rode it..........but those don't look like the same roads to me. Google Maps only shows 3 switchbacks on W Rd.  :nixweiss: :nixweiss: :nixweiss: :nixweiss:

I have not been on a road like that near there but I have been all around there riding. It is beautiful.  My mother-in-law is from Red Bud and we have had a few great rides along the river and up into the mountains.   My wife won a prize one very rainy ride up there,  "Best Spontaneous wet t-shirt contest winner"!  Ha!  I love it.

Guys, that picture in post #1 has a total of 6 switchbacks unless my eyes are deceiving me.  The second turn down from the top is the tightest turn of all 6, it looks like.  Also note that there is some type of concrete structure on the outside of turn 1 at the top.
Post #4 by Scott looks to be only 4 switchbacks, and his #5 post has 5 switchbacks and their layout doesn't match the layout of the ones in post #1.
Note that there are no houses or buildings anywhere in the original picture in Post #1.
You're gonna think I'm crazy, but this actually looks a little like some pics I've seen of China.
Keep looking!   I want to know where this is, too!

I've corrected my first posts on this subject to reflect my error in jumping the gun to identify the picture in the first post as the "W" road going up Signal Mountain.  Ain't nobody perfect (except the One who died on the cross for our sins)....but it sho resembles like the "W" road.  Of course I've been watching "It's a mad, mad, mad, mad, mad World" and have a "big W" on the brain.... :huepfenlol2:

I've been on the W road a few times over the years but hey, whether it is or isn't, the W is good bet for a trip to the Chattanooga area.... :2vrolijk_21:

i agree!! rode most everywhere in e.tn. and have looked this shot over for an hour once it was posted and was hesitant to comment. really reminds me of newfound gap. but, it is not newfound gap.this could turn into a quest for where are we!!

This is another similar, but different road - Needles Highway in Custer National Park, South Dakota.  Not ever Beartooth Pass in Montana (the mother road of all switchback roads) has 6 switchbacks so close together...

OK...so...when we all going????
Awesome looking place, but then with all the incredible places in this country, why go all the way to Japan?

Below is maybe the most challenging and steep twisty in Arkansas, going up to the top of Mt. Nebo, southwest of Russellville.  It's so steep in the switchbacks that there are multiple gouge marks in the pavement from trailer hitches dragging.  It's a real trip two-up on a bike.  Narrow and steep, but it is paved.

The best kept secret for the most curvy road in TN is…… Should I really divulge it ??

Use google maps and find SR 32 of of Cosby TN going up to the NC mountains. This is an intense curvy road that is more challenging than the famed SU 129 Dragon.  It goes to know where and turns to dirt at the NC border but there is a nice place to turn around and smoke a cigar at the top and it is on the Appalachian Trail. Oh it is nearly devoid of any traffic, nobody has found it yet. Be careful it will make you dizzy.

Has anyone else rode it yet? BTW I could tell from Google maps that was not W road. Always try the satellite view to confirm.

Daing!  You're right, Dr. D!  It looks awesome!

Follow 32/321 south out of Cosby, and in less than 5 miles from Cosby, the curves start.
But it's only 1.2 miles of gravel after you hit the line for the Appalachian Trail, and after that you hit pavement again.  That could be a truly awesome ride!

Bucket list!

I think the gravel deters the crowds and since it does not go anywhere of real importance that keeps it quiet. Lord if they put a T shirt shop up there the place would go to hell. I hope I did not open Pandoras box on this road. I did that once on a striped bass fishery here in TN when I invited a guide from Va. to fish here. The place exploded with fishing guides making money and killing the fish off in the summer months when they would not survive catch and release.
