I think I'm going to steer clear of the gel. I sat on a few of my buddy's corbins and always thought they were too hard, however they weren't contoured to my butt and I never sat on it long enough to give it a fair opinion. This is the first stock seat in the last 25 years I thought was comfortable on a long trip and looks great to boot. The first time I sat on my bike I was actually coming up with reasons as to why I thought I really needed a new one
don't get me wrong, I wasn't specifically pushing the corbin. you just want a seat that has a little more 'firmness' to it. there are several companies that make great seats, ie. c&c, mustang, etc.... you just have to find the one that works for you. the important thing is to give it a chance. a lot of people will sit on a seat for 2 minutes and just say, 'its too hard'. you'll find that after 6 or 8 hrs in the saddle, that 'hard' seat is still allowing you to ride further, while the soft, cushy seat will have fatigued your butt to the point that you'd rather not even look at another motorcycle for a week.....
butt, (see what I did there?

) seats are so very subjective. what works for one, definitely does not work for another. you've just got to find the one that does work for you.
good luck
