Up date no call from dealer today after they told me they where going to call and find out about ordering the tq plates they where told about,Belive me the reason I did not call them today was to have a clear head on what to say to them ,instead of getting into a pissing contest like I did in 2011 with the old owner, these are new owners and own 6 dealerships and can't not give me an better answer. They may be worse than the old owner.Im giving them till Monday for answers and getting things done ,Either prove me wrong ,and show me they are not out of round,if they are not we now know,if they are out of round offer me. A new set that are shown to be correct,or give me a full refund.Master card has done so already, but I want this kit still as I have a builder on hold and I have money invested on other parts as of right now I can't use if I get the refund.$600 dollars worth, not the lesson I want to pay for.

hang tuff and do what ya got to do. do not take any wooden nickels

just checking to be clear on this...of the 117ci kits done so far...only two (2) of them have been checked for roundness, and one (1) is good and (1) is out of spec, and the others, no one has any idea of what they have  :nixweiss:

Well I'd bet the vast majority of those installed by the dealers are NOT scrutinized at all, but bolted on and run.
I would HOPE I'm wrong

Mine was tight but within spec. Apparently it was just a tiny bit tighter toward the bottom of one jug that he cleaned up with a hone. No cause for concern at all, he reported.

The exact words from my dealer ,is we have done many of these kits and no problems put them on and run them,I asked if they where going to check them if I brought the bike to them ,they said they would use them and give me a 1 year warranty.

this is a new kit, how many of them could they have possibly done already?

I doubt your are wrong....first most Techs wouldn't have the tools, or the expertise to check them. No knock on Harley Techs, but most if not all believe if Mother Harley sent the kit, they do all that. All that is needed from them is to change the parts. They are allowed a flat rate time to complete the job. The only way it gets checked, is if something is obviously wrong, and it wont go together correctly.
Private shop is different, their butt is on the line and their reputation is at stake. They don't have the luxury of saying "its a high performance motor, with race parts installed, what do you expect they all do that"
Again not knocking Harley Techs, their are lots of good ones out their, but most of them are not experienced at modifying these motors.

X2. I asked my dealer yesterday and he just looked at me with a blank stare. I have the kit but I have to say I am not going to worry about this. Call me crazy...no, please don't...but I'm just gonna roll along and enjoy the ride.

I realize we would prefer perfection but are there acceptable tolerances for out of round cylinders?

Piston and jug were each out enough that it would only traverse the stroke 90 degrees out. I.e. Fit ok if you twisted the wrist pin perpendicular to its normal orientation.

Oddly enough, they rounded out if you took them out of the torque plates. That said he re checked a few jugs in the torque plates to make sure they were ok.

That was too much to hone so he sent them back as defects.

....and he's just "some dealership mechanic"
