:2vrolijk_21:    I'd like to add that it would also be a good idea to keep a spare battery in it's packaging somewhere on the bike itself, just in case that less than one year old battery in the fob suffers a premature demise.  It happens.

I'm not sure this has been discussed before, but I have a question for those with the late models.  Does the infotainment screen show any kind of warning about a low battery in the fob, and if so is it obvious enough to assure people will react to it?  I know some cars have a warning, but unless they are obvious and persistent enough to cut through the fog many people seem to be in while driving, they aren't much good.

Yep, my bikes and my wife's bikes all have a spare battery on them for the remote.

I have not seen a low batter indication on my 15 SERGU for the fob's.

My wife's Range Rover Evoke has a message that comes up when the remote is low.  Very nice and you can not miss it.

I'm still expecting to see someone come out with air conditioning for a bike, to complete the package.

I have one and it is absolutely amazing in the summer! Total game changer for me when it gets real hot. when your core is cool it changes everything. At gas stations people will ask me "is that a AC system"? I say "kinda"..

on my 2015 cvo roadglide, i leave the key in trunk and just carry the fob. if i want to lock the bags, i use the lock buttons on the front panel.

I never enabled mine. No annoying chirp, no batteries to worry about.

I didn't realize this was something that could be enables or not. How do you disable the FOB requirement?  I guess you just use the manual key to lock everything?

I never entered a PIN so the FOB never 'married' the TSSM. You used to be able to set the PIN to all zeros to disable but I think only a dealer can zero out the PIN now. And yeah I just use the key.

Can you use a 2016 Key fob on a 2015?
« Reply #21 on: June 21, 2016, 08:59:29 AM »

Hey peeps, I have a 2015 FLTRUSE. I see that the 2016's come with everything in the one key. Does anyone know if you can program a 2016 fob to work with a 2015?
Thanks

MOCO said it can be done as long as you replace the ECM.

True.  Of course you don't have a tour-pak lock so in Harley's infinite wisdom you aren't a real "touring" rider and don't need a central or remote locking feature.

IMHO, no motorcycle needs a central locking feature, since there are no doors to unlock in order to gain entry, and most people haven't become so feeble minded (yet) that they've forgotten how to use an old fashioned key to unlock  a saddlebag or a tour-pak.  I'm constantly amazed how people who thought having a tachometer as well as a speedometer on a bike was hot chit back in the day, now can't imagine riding a bike without all the comforts of their big luxury car.  I'm still expecting to see someone come out with air conditioning for a bike, to complete the package.

Jerry ;)

The locking fob is convenient tho'  Catches both bags and the TP at the same time so you don't forget to lock one.  And, it keeps the scratches down from not having to use the key.  That being said, it is more than needed for a bike and I hate having two fobs.  ('14 Limited).

Maybe HD could have used the money on something that needed fixed.   ;D

I doubt they meant the ECM, more likely the BCM.

ECM Part number:  41000057, 2015 and 2016 model years

BCM Part number:  41000341, 2016 Model
                             69994-12B, 2015 Model

I noticed while looking these up that the 2015 shows a separate power lock module, part number 76000345, but there is no listing for such a module for the 2016.  Perhaps the function is now part of the new BCM?

change out your batteries yearly when you renew road side assistance
travel with both FOBs
early warning sign is when bike starts only when FOB in a certain location.
Agree with using the security card code as a backup but a major PITA

WTF is that?????

On my 2015 I set the PIN and practice using it every now and then (it's easy once you get used to it).  I'm no longer worried about a dead battery or loosing the FOB itself.

The only loose end is if you lose the KEY.  If you've locked the steering and lose the key you are S.O.L.  I've hidden a key on the bike so even if I lose the key and FOB from my pocket I can dig out my spare key off the bike and get on my way.

Only thing to remember about using the PIN is to be sure to Put the bike in Neutral and set it on it's kickstand "Before" killing the motor.  If you stop the bike sitting upright and dismount you will set off the alarm.
