I tried this last year and it just would not follow the route the way I had it planned, I used the HD ride planner don't know if that's the problem. Will have to try basecamp and see if it makes a difference.

when planning a route it is best to use a number of waypoints. I seem to end up inserting a waypoint every 40-50 mile.

depending on what the GPS's routing setting are (i.e. fastest, shortest, avoid tolls...ect) The GPS might take you a on different route then what you laid out on the computer because the GPS will calculate it's own route between the start point-end point and waypoints in between.

Zumo 665 is much better and the bluetooth works with your phone and headset. The Rushmore bluetooth is crippled. And with Rushmore you have to switch to a high contrast scheme to even be able to see the navigation information during the daytime. Don't buy a 2016 unless you want a 2016 for something other the infotainment system.

It's been said many time elsewhere - plan your rides on the computer "BaseCamp" in Automotive mode (not motorcycle), that way you'll have to input enough waypoints to force the route to go the way you want it to go.  When you import it into Rushmore, you'll have a much better chance of it being the same way you planned it on the computer.  You'll also be able to share your usb drive with others in your group and they will get a more consistent route, matching yours.  Rushmore will recalculate the route based upon the maps in your bike, so every added waypoint helps....
