Also do these work on my bike (see below)? They go on the upper forks to make strap hook attachment easy. Are they good or bad? These are Kuryakyn. Do all of the hooks fit in them?

The Kury site spells out which bracket works on what bike.  Had these on my SG.  Worked great, makes strapping down easy, no worry about stressing bars, marring paint, etc.

I don't know about the Kuryakyn tie down brackets....but, I have seen these from Paul Yaffe used on a touring bike locally and they do look & work nice;  http://baggernation.com/item.php?iid=299

The ratchet type straps they sell seem high priced. Not sure they'd be worth the extra money.
As for the cam style straps, I wouldn't pay the shipping if they gave them to me. Just my opinion. Not from any experience with this particular brand. I just don't like cam style straps.

If you tie your bike down alone.....get the ones with the flat hook with the spring lock. No way for it to come off your soft tie while working with it.
I saw a Goldwong on a trailer........i was in the left lane...truck towing trailer in the right lane with my front bumper about even with the back of the trailer......an idiot decided to turn left in front of us and we both hammered on the binders......the Goldwong's front end dove a lot and the front left tiedown came unhooked and when the Goldwong stood up it was leaning against the right side of the trailer. The hooks didn't have the spring clip in them. I was on my way to the HD shop in Langford and purchased a set of straps with the clip.

The last set I bought at northern tool and really like them. They had a device on the strap (its round and made of rubber) and it takes up the slack in the un used part of the strap. Love that

Had this happen with my old Road King. Back road, open trailer, early morning, bumpy, just happen to look up in the mirror and thought some thing didn't look right the bike was leaning alittle. One of the S hooks came off the eye bolt in the trailer deck. Double lucky that the ratchet end was at the bars in stead of the deck and that since I use 15ft straps I had tied the tails to the railings. That saved it from going over. Ever since then I use electrical tape and tape up the hooks on both end so they can't unhook themselves from there attachment point. Its hard for me to find the straps with the hook keepers local.

I use zip ties to secure the hooks.  Buy about 1000 zip ties at a time.

This is what we use.

Do those effect ground clearance or lean angle like some of the center stands do? Are they compatible with center stands?

The attachment bar is removed when not trailering.
from there web site:Adjustable clamping bar with neoprene lined clamps prevents scratches. Always remove clamping bar when not trailering.

I still swear by the "Biker Bars".  They are the best tie down system out there.  Last year I trailered over 7000 miles using them on two bikes ( CVO RGU and CVO Deluxe )  :orange: :soapbox:and no issues.  And I didn't need to use any straps either.....  I can't say enough good things about them...
