I saw a Goldwong on a trailer........i was in the left lane...truck towing trailer in the right lane with my front bumper about even with the back of the trailer......an idiot decided to turn left in front of us and we both hammered on the binders......the Goldwong's front end dove a lot and the front left tiedown came unhooked and when the Goldwong stood up it was leaning against the right side of the trailer. The hooks didn't have the spring clip in them. I was on my way to the HD shop in Langford and purchased a set of straps with the clip.
Had this happen with my old Road King. Back road, open trailer, early morning, bumpy, just happen to look up in the mirror and thought some thing didn't look right the bike was leaning alittle. One of the S hooks came off the eye bolt in the trailer deck. Double lucky that the ratchet end was at the bars in stead of the deck and that since I use 15ft straps I had tied the tails to the railings. That saved it from going over. Ever since then I use electrical tape and tape up the hooks on both end so they can't unhook themselves from there attachment point. Its hard for me to find the straps with the hook keepers local.
