Has any compared the SE 255 vs SE 585 with dyno chart?
« on: June 03, 2016, 06:05:43 PM »

I'm hoping someone has dyno comparison between a stock 110ci with the SE 255's swapped out with the SE 585's.  I'm considering this move but I would like to see a comparison before doing so.  Any help would be appreciated, if you could point me to an actual dyno graph (not the Harley Davidson cam comparison chart).

I specifically looking at these two cams (I know there are many other options, including 117 kit).

I don't have a graph, but I do know "bolting" in the 585 in lieu of the 255 you will not be happy, the 585 needs 10.5 squish to really shine.

You're probably correct, though I could not find anything specifically stating you need more compression,on the HD site, I see that their Stage 3, 110ci (utilizing the SE 585) kit makes 10.2-1 compression.

Then in a 585 discussion, you get comments like this:

I had the SE585 in my own stock 110 for a little bit and the intake noise annoyed me so I changed to an Andrews 54. Hit all the boxes for me, may not be others cup of tea.
I sold the SE585 to another and this is the result with my headwork and a compression bump to 10.5 (I was wrong it did work fine).
Less than a savory tune but still shows the potential.

Wow Don that is a supet flat torque line (cant even call ita curve)

Im sure a big part of the success of that build was your headwork. Not sureif the OP is going that far.

Thanks for this clarification and great results with your headwork and comp! :2vrolijk_21:

True, I wanted a simple bolt on resolution, and seems like Mr. D is right on the money.  I think, I'll pass on installing these cams for now.  I really didn't want to go pass a simple cam install, as I'm actually pretty happy with stock performance.

I thought I would try to shore up the weak points on the motor such as pushrods, lifters, and if I was going to replace the inner cam bearing (as many suggested on other threads ,pre-13 CVO cam bearing upgrade), I would venture to find a better bolt in, with low end torque on par with the SE 255, but perhaps carry it out a little farther.

1) I'm definitely going to replace the lifters and push rods, at first opportunity (next week).

2) Would you suggest that I hold off on the inner cam bearing, until I resolve what cam to replace the SE 255 or would you replace the inner cam bearings, anyway pending further research further for a cam?

Just looking for some thoughts/direction here!  Thanks all!

I guess I'm answering my own question! :huepfenlol2:  I'll just stick with 255's, change the cam bearings, and sell the SE 585's! :2vrolijk_21:

  Sounds like a move forward

Thanks, I appreciate the information!  Hopefully not a moment late.  One of my lifters on the front cylinder, seemed to be making too much noise today riding in this hot weather.

You might want to research the TTS 100 cam. It is basically an improved version of the SE255 with tons of low end torque.

Oh yeah, and I have a used set for sale in the classifieds- only has 2,000 miles on them. Took it out as I did a 113 build.

Did everything the 255 did and carried out farther on the TQ and HP. I have a post on this site with dyno charts.

Something went wrong with my last post. My reply went in with the OP's quote. Sorry about that.

Thanks!  Yeah I looked at that cam, but no interested in that one.  Beautiful bike, by the way.  I think Harley nailed with the paint and scheme of the 09 CVO Road Glides! :2vrolijk_21:
