no, it can only be sold in your market area.  apparently, some dealers complained about losing sales to places like kutter who were discounting the esp, while they weren't.  this is hd's way of 'leveling the playing field'.

I'm not sure i get this? Are you saying that the Harley ESP plan is only good in your "Market Area"? Meaning if i break down outside my market area( whatever that is)i have no coverage ?

Nope.  As skratch said, the dealers are being forced by Harley to only sell the plans within their designated market area.  That has nothing to do with where the coverage will be honored once you've bought it, that is controlled by the actual contract.  If it says North America for instance, it covers you in Canada, the USA, and Mexico, and it doesn't matter where you originally bought it.  And btw, just in case some folks don't know this, you are not limited to having ESP work performed by a Harley dealer.  There are vast numbers of shops that are approved by the ESP company.  Many folks who aren't exactly thrilled with the work they've had done at Harley dealerships are successfully having ESP work performed by their favorite independent shop.

My original purchase through Jim (dollar was par at the time) was the Harley plan and it was good for North America and I did use it in Canada for a new compensator on my 2010.  A simple email or call to Jim would answer your question if his new company is North American but my guess would be it is.  Let us know if you do contact him and the answer.  Only issue we have is the premium of the American dollar so you would have to do the math better the Harley local ESP and Jims with the American dollar cost.

I tried to email him but never heard back. You are correct though that once to add a 30% exchange rate it doesn't make too much sense to purchase the one from Jim - you may save a couple hundred dollars at best.
