I went to my dealer with my 04 Cobalt with bad sddlebag and side coverleft side, just bad paint work at the same time i showed the dealer the similar scratches on the tank he said that the MOCO told him to comp me a bottle of HD scratch and swirl and a bottle of HD Glaze. I thought that was a poor response on thier behalf. Saddlebag was replaced wiating for the side cover. Last note when i picked up my bike I had a big scratch on the black CVO insert under the tank lid. Thats special order too 8 weeks. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

Comeon, this is not right. The MOCO says to give you a bottle of touch up paint and send you on your way..... I am sorry.... this is just not enough.  With all the problems with paint and chrome, it seems like it should just be a simple warrantly problem Either you have a problem and the MOCO stands behind it or you don't and you are out riding your a#@ss off and enjoying the scenery and not sittin here bi$$$4r$$ing about it.  A problem is a problem. No matter what every case is going to be different, but a satisfactory resolution for all needs to be a standard and not a screw you that will accept it and a complete replacement of parts for those that don't. Something is seriously wrong in this neck of the woods.  At least that is how I see it.  [smiley=nervous.gif] [smiley=nervous.gif]

I too have found problems in my paint. A large hand print in the side of the front fender and a finger print in the rear fender. The good news is the I took the bike to the dealer and new fenders are on the way. The bottom line is how reputable the dealership is in how they deal with problems.

hd-dude, I want to print this quote in real big fonts and place it front of me and start to chant it like a mantra.  Thanks, I needed to hear that again.  Still love the bike.  [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Sorry to hear about many of the member's problems with the paint.  I'm new to the SEEG page because now I'm waiting for my second banana.  My yellow SED also had a slight chip in the yellow frame before I took delivery of it last May. The dealer touched it up & replaced the pinched hydraulic clutch line.  I guess I was too excited to bitch about it. I'll live with it but,  now I'm going to go over the SEEG when it comes in with a fine toothed comb when they are uncrating it.  Thanks for the vine & I'm sure learning alot.  My cousin has a few CVO's & I thought he was the only crazy one around, guess not.......I'll be there shortly too!

I too went over mine very carefully when I picked it up. During the inspection the dealer found  a small chip in the lower fairing and he ordered a new one right away. It wasn't until i was in direct sunlight and at a certain angle that I noticed the handprint in the paint.
The point is to be sure you look a the bike in all lighting conditions and from different angles. Sometimes the flaws don't show themselves right away [smiley=shifty.gif]

From Ripleys "believe it or not".
The new right saddlebag lower came in, (to replace the one damaged by the shop), and you guessed it, the paint is screwed up on that one too!
It looks like there was a run in the clear coat, so someone tried to sand it out with about 400 grit sandpaper and sanded right through the clear coat, then they just shipped it out that way!  They didn't even bother to color sand it and buff it. I guess the guy that sanded through the clear coat, (which was right over the silver stripes), realized his mistake and stopped, but then the thing was shipped out right where he stopped!  Hell must have been shift change or something! I'm suggesting to whomever can create such things that a poll be started at the top of this thread so that everyone can offer their guess as to how many outer fairings Mobe will have to get before his replacement is a good one?

This really is simply embarassing for HD.  Not only a pain the ass for you.  But it's embarassing that some function of qualit control is so bad that so many poor parts can get out over and over and over again.  If anyone needs any evidence that quality control and it's service corrolary are the red headed step children to the profit equation at HD they need not look any farther than circumstances like the history of this green bike.

Paint problems are certainly not an occasional problem at HD.  I recently ordered hard bags for my wifes' black and glacier white pearl '05 Deluxe.  Ordered the first set in white pearl and they arrived "kinda" white over a baby excrement brown.  Sent them back.  Second set arrives in a flat off-white that missed the mark of the glacier white pearl by about 20 shades.  Sent them back.  Third set arrived and were some pearl based white, but not a perfect match by any means.  Definately had me worn out, so convinced momma that it was close enough and installed them.  Oooooop's, problems aren't over yet as the lids only open about 21/2 inches before they hit the decorative seat rail on the Deluxe.  The dealer, a personal friend, called HD and asked them to resolve the issue.  They acknowledged a "design error", but stated that they wouldn't refund any portion of the cost.  He ended up eating the cost of the bags.  Moral of the story.....the dealer can be the right kind and stand behind the products.....HD service and support sucks.

You need to talk directly with the field rep who will then hook you up with the customer service person who will then hook you up with the regional rep to resolve this issue.

I finally had a chance to put a few pics together of the original paint defects on my bike. Judge for yourself.
