Installing Fullsac DX Ceramic headers and TTS Turner
« on: July 22, 2016, 08:26:41 AM »

First I want to say thanks to Steve and his team at Fullsac for their help.

I just received the products and plan to install them next weekend.

My plan is to first remove the current mufflers then headers.
Then install the new DX headers and reinstall the muffles (Kuryakyn crusher).
My first question is there anything special I need to install (or remove) the sensors?
Does this require the same type of sealer as an automobile oxygen sensor?
I plan to start the bike and insure all is performing well at this point.
Next I will install the TTS and the map provided by Fullsac for my setup.
Are they any watch outs with this?  I never done this and only had HD SE tuners installed in the past.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and watch outs.
I am looking forward to having a cooler bike and a better performing bike!!

You will enjoy the increased HP and Tq also.  :2vrolijk_21:

Be careful not to get your sensors mixed up....the front goes back on the front, etc.

I don't use any type of sealer with the sensors.  They have a crush, sealing ring on them already.

I put a little anti seize on Threads of sensors.  Also make sure RUN button is on when installing tts map! I read the directions many times before and still missed that.  The reason I missed it, was I don't usually use the off button, but my SIL rode the bike last.

A dab of anti-seize is all I have used. Make a note to check the torque on the header fasteners on the engine after a few hundred miles.

Remove O2 sensors after headers are off and change over to new header one at a time to avoid mixing them up. If you do remember Black is for Back cylinder exhaust. Use only a small amount of anti-seize, being careful not to get any on tip of O2 sensor. Tighten the bracket that mounts to transmission before tightening and torqueing exhaust at heads to 120 in/lbs.

Thanks, I will do one at a time and check for bolt tightness as well.

My bike is no cooler, after DX and TTS. My 2010 ran cool but it had a full Rhienhart system  and HD tuner, the true duals made it run cool. I thought the DX would be cool to but it hasn't been.

While the headpipe is off, check the tightness of the two bolts that hold the support bracket to the side of the transmission side case trap door as they can come loose and cause an oil leak.  This is the bracket that the carriage bolt goes down thru to support the headpipe to the side of the tranny..

Yep, header support bracket bolt on my 2011 came loose and leaked oil all over head pipe and bottom of engine.  Its very difficult to get to the bolts with the head pipe back on bike.

Thanks again!  I do expect and hope the bike is cooler these changes. I would think with the bike not running as lean, no catalytic converter and having ceramic coating should help. I noticed HD states that by having your bike dynoed it will drop the temp by 80 degrees.  I explained to Steve the primary thing I was after was for the bike to run cooler. The added performance is a bonus.   ;D

Good luck! I did all these things and saw my gas mileage drop and no difference in the heat. Still fries my right leg on a 80 degree day.

Not an upgrade that I would recommend.

Probably not a good comparison but I feel my 2015 CVO RGU (twin cooled) with pipes and tune runs cooler than my 2011 Ultra Limited with a Stage 1.  Cant say the mileage has changed since tuning.  On a recent trip to FL with my 220 and my wife on back plus about 50 lbs gear we averaged 42 mpg.  Some state highways and some interstate.  Both bikes get pretty hot if stopped in city traffic in 90 degree temps.

Surprised by the negative feedback on this.  I did the Fullsac sport pipe and TTS on my 2014 RK, and both wife and I noticed a reduction in heat immediately.  Mine also runs flawlessly now where I had some lean running issues with the stock tune.  I could care less about MPG, but it seems I am right at 40mpg per the HD distance calc - always shows about 240 after fill up.
