Ohlins
« on: August 22, 2016, 05:10:23 PM »

Want everyone to know that Howard at Motorcycle Metal is the man!
I installed his set of Ohlins on the rear, and they are AWESOME.  No more cringing waiting for a slap to the head by the wife when we hit a bump or pothole.   I will definitely get his setup for the front.  If your "living" with the MOCO crapola, get some Ohlins.  You won't be sorry.

I just put ohlins on at Sturgis on the rear they work great like a new bike .
I did lift my bike by 1/2 inch
but overall bike rides better and handles better
also it seems to vibrate less at  high way speed why I don't know
but mine were put on by the Ohlins USA guys at Sturgis they where great

Ohlins is superior to anything else out there. (If you actually know how to ride)

Not a trap at all. Fact is that most people don't know how to ride and will not feel the difference in suspension. More true for the V-twin crowd. Sport bike riders are more in tune with their rides.

Do you disagree?

Yea, I think you're full of it... There's many a Guys & Gals on this forum that have plenty of years and miles... This place ain't the typical HOG chapter...

you'd have to be dead to not be able to tell the difference!  And not all HOG chapters are the same!

Based in what?

Based on the fact that I have been riding since the 70s, I have attended a police motorcycle school, ridden countless miles on duty and off, and have given riding instruction to many riders including quite a few from this group. I don't like to judge others, as pre-judging others speaks more about the one making the judgement, than those they judge.

I will say I can fairly assess most riders, and from what I've seen I disagree.

I run Ohlins shocks on my bike bought from Howard.

I just love this forum....we've gone from the writer of the thread speaking highly of shocks made by Ohlins and improved by Howard to whether one type of bike rider is better than the other....and only in   4   2 posts, too (thanks for the correction FHW).  That's got to be a record....

Now back to your regular scheduled thread.... :vrolijk_6:  :vrolijk_11:

Yep, I disagree.  If you leave your house on a Motorsickle, and you make it back home on your Motorsickle, you can ride a Motorsickle.  Suspension is a personal thing, to me, anyway.  Myself, I like a soft ride, which makes for more movement in the Swinger-Arm to adapt to the condition, or contour, or whatever, of the pavement.  Gives me more control of the Motorsickle, as opposed to a stiff, or rigid, or in the matter of that junk HD puts on 'em, which will hop, if comin' into, or in a curve, hot.  Almost got hurt with that junk, and it could've been worse than that!  Got rid of that chit the first time, and have used Progressives ever since.  My buds, here, tell me Ohlins are better, and they may be, but I can't say, 'cause I ain't tried 'em.  Prolly will, next time. I learned a long time ago to pick and choose who I ride with.  I steer clear of the rookies, and the drunks.  There are some out there that in my opinion don't belong on a Motorsickle.  But that don't mean they can't ride one.  I don't claim to be a pro, but I, and the ones I ride with, can keep one between the ditches, and at times, at speeds the cartoon bikers only said they got up to, but didn't.  As for the jap bike riders.......up here their idiots.  Bless their hearts.  I don't know what they're "in Tune" with, but it ain't the same tunes I'm listenin' to.  There endeth the lesson.  Later--HUBBARD
