I have one. Not exactly odor proof. Mine fills up saddlebag with fumes. I hesitate using it with electric locks. Fumes may ignite.

Agree.  And anything in that bag that absorbs odors (jackets, rain gear, etc.) will take on the stink.  I limit using mine only the once or twice a year when I think the rewards might outweigh the risks like cross country trips or whatever versus just leaving it in the bag 100% of the time.

I never carry it in the bag with gas in it. I know that kind of defeats the purpose. But its nice to have if someone runs out at least you don't need to worry about having a container to put gas in.

MSR (Mountain Safety Rescue) makes aluminum 1 quart bottles that you can carry gas without any vapor loss.  I carry two of them.

I did carry the Reda container but had the same problem as the others.

Less bulky, good solution, and they work.

I've used my Reda many times with no odor problems, saved me a couple of times.

I used it on my old 2001 Ultra Classic with no problems.  With the larger gas tanks, I've traveled all over the US and haven't found a need for the gas can but did come close a couple of times.

There's a knock off to the REDA and not only will you have odor problems, it will also leak out the screw on lid/funnel (it doesn't seal tight).

I have thought of getting one my self after I run out one time. It was when I found that the gas gauge is a little less then accurate.
I've been putting it off for the same reason being the concern of vapour odors and the thought of the gas vapours expanding on hot days in the saddle bag.
The MSR Bottles seem a better option to go I'll let my friend know about them.  Thanks for all the input.

That's becoming an ever larger problem with a lot of products these days, thanks to our unscrupulous friends both in China and here in the USA.  Counterfeiting isn't just about printing bogus money anymore.  Sadly, unscrupulous folks don't care about anyone but themselves so they will counterfeit anything, including things like airbags for your car.

I got one for Christmas. Never hauled it in the bike, saw no need. To many gas stations regardless of where you are, even the desert etc. just plan ahead a little. But I did decide to use it for chainsaw gas. But had to quit because of the fumes to and from the station.
Can't believe someone would haul this in a saddlebag 3 inches from a hot muffler. POC and it was  a Reda brand.
