Request, someone with SEUC and parts manual
« on: February 24, 2007, 06:50:03 PM »

Would someone with an 07 parts manual please scan the page or pages that cover the power locks?  If you're so inclined please be sure and catch the harness and switch up front just in case they are in a different diagram.  Either post them here or let me know and I'll send you my email address or fax number.

Thanks

Brian, I bent my back a bit yesterday afternoon so since have been enjoying the benefits of some relatively potent happy pills.  Tacos would be cool man.

I was afraid of that Gene (that it would be scattered over several pages rather than one or two).  Here's what's on my mind....

Have been housebound for a day and a half now and bored.  Boredom is dangerous (or at least expensive) sometimes.  I got to wondering what the latch system was in the saddlebags and what the triggering/switch system was like.  Just because HD doesn't offer a retrofit kit doesn't mean it's not retrofittable.  I'm wondering what's involved.

I'm really only interested in the saddlebags.  If it's more than just a handfull of pages please don't worry it.  If it's a manageable few, however, I'd be interested in seeing those exploded views and parts lists to see how much or little the hassle might be to stick them on the red bike.

Thanks

Before this dropped from memory just wanted to tell Gene thanks for sending the pages.

Talk about major efforts too.  He had a storm.  No electricity.  Working under generator power.  Had to fetch the scanner from another house.  Then had a computer crash.  And still sent the pages.  The poor guy was going through what had to seem like Planes Trains and Automobiles and he still helped me out.

Thanks Gene.  It was a great help.  Appreciate it very much.  You da man  :drink: !

Hey Gene (or anyone else with an 07).  Just thought of one other thing to bug you for information for.

There's no way to tell from the exploded views just how large those units are in the bottom of the saddlebag.  If you've noticed before please let me know how much bag space is given away to the locking hardware.

Thanks.

2ln, they are thinner than a bar of soap & maybe 4" long. I'll take a pic in the morning if you want.

I'm still dragging my feet on the fairing. I had to move pool tables in Hilton Head today & tomorrow. I like the Nolan. It's starting to grow on me.

That's fine AJ.  Just a general dimension was all I was interestedin.  That thin?  That's great.  Small enough then that when you drop a liner full of shorts, socks and other sundries in you're really not losing any space at all.  At least not that you'd ever notice.

Very interesting.  Getting more interested in this all the time now.

With Gene's help have already found out that the parts bill to do it to just the saddlebags would be well under $300.00 (closer to $250.00 probably) if you're not buying the hard saddlebag liners and willing to make your own harness.  The harness will be simple enough there's no reason to pay the bigger bucks for it though when making your own won't be a big deal.

Thanks AJ.  Appreciate the heads-up on the size of the unit.

Already got it and read it over Gene.  Those descriptions were great.  Got you up to speed on my inability to fight off temptation in the return email.  So now whenever parts arrive there will be a little project to look forward to  :2vrolijk_21: .

I've poured over the schematic on the locks, but there's one item that isn't sinking in, and that's the, I'll call it switching diode, between the two leads. I assume they flip-flop the polarity to fire the latches to and fro, but I'm not getting how that little bugger does it.

Can someone give me a lesson on how that little gizmo works?

Thanks
