The Star Mine Suspension Bridge is a 117 metre long pedestrian suspension bridge across the Red Deer River. Constructed in 1931, it was built for the coal workers of Star Mine.

On the bridge were a large number of Locks of Love!  I found them in a number of locations on this journey so far.

A love lock or love padlock is a padlock which sweethearts lock to a bridge, fence, gate, monument, or similar public fixture to symbolize their love.  Typically the sweethearts' names or initials, and perhaps the date, are inscribed on the padlock, and its key is thrown away (often into the nearby river) to symbolize unbreakable love.

In the badlands of Alberta, Canada, one may come across oddly shaped rock-formations which stand up to 20 feet tall. Blackfoot and Cree traditions hold that these rocks are petrified giants who come alive at night to protect the land around them by hurling stones at intruders.

Today we know the rocks were created by erosion - perhaps as amazing a force as giant-petrification. Naturally shaped by wind and water, these hoodoos have been carved over millions of years into pillar-like shapes.

Heart Mountain is a mountain located in the Bow River valley just south of Exshaw, Alberta. The peak was named in 1957 for the heart shaped layer of limestone near the top.

BONUS!  A train that reminds me of hdbrad

Day 13 Canmore, Alberta – Pincher Creek, Alberta

Taking Highway 1 out of town, I exited at Highway 22 and enjoyed a fun ride on some back roads AGAIN!  Had some hot chocolate in Turner Valley with a fresh cinnamon roll!  YUM!

Decided to go to Fort Macleod…The town that forgot time!
