Don,

It looks like most everything has been said and, as usual, lots of good advice has been offered.  One question you had that I don't think was answered was about locking the trailer to the hitch.  You'll get a pin lock and keys with your hitch kit.  The Bushtec's use a, I believe patented, hitch/pin setup that works very well.  There are also two grease 'nipples/zerks', whatever they're called, on the tongue that you'll want to keep lubed.  No big deal at all, just a pre-trip lube and you're ready to go for the entire trip.

Congratulations on the trailer, you'll never regret the decision.

Don if you can't get a hitch in time I  will send you my hidden hitch. I have it off the bike to get chromed. Not pulling our trailer on the Nelson trip.

Congratulations on your new purchase.

I just want to call you a bad name -   only cause I'm jealous.

But seriously - Congratulations.

That part (wheel and suspension) I had thought of.  Just hadn't seen a good picture of the bottom side to see what of the suspension was accessible to the purpose.  Good to know that it's an effective option.

If I hit a big-assed pylon next to a gas pump I will never admit it to anyone here.  NEVER.  ANYONE.   NEVER.  Will just say I sold the trailer.
Who said I hit it?  Just watch out.  My bsr always warns me if I am too close.

Had generally wondered just how much one dared fill that mounted as far forward on the tongue as it is.  Good advice.  Thanks.
Just put all your heavy stuff in the back of the trailer to offset.

Another question to the previously illuminated.  How long of a security cable/chain has proved to be "long enough" in common usage to rope these things down when they are unattended and unhooked from the bike?

A couple of handy accessories that Bushtec offers are a security cable with lock - I think it is a 10 foot cable...  Another nice accessory option is a spare wheel/tire w/bearings installed and spare tire cover...  They also offer a couple types of trailer cover - one is a dust cover and the other is waterproof.

Don, if the guy you are buying the trailer from does not have the owner's dvd call Bushtec and ask to purchase one.  I'm sure the cost is modest and it is very well done and will address all your questions.

I would also get the roof top satellite dish and long extension cord. Add a 37" plasma screen inside the lid with 5.1 surround sound. If you get all that, we'll never leave the parking lot in Hot Springs.  :D

Just put all your heavy stuff in the back of the trailer to offset.

While packing, I try to end up with 20 - 40 lbs. tongue weight.  Too much weight in the back of the trailer is not so good -

Scott, I agree.  But with the cooler filled about half full with drinks and ice I've found that I have to move my heaviest items toward the read in order to not overload the tongue.  Each trailer may be different so until you get used to yours best to actually check the tongue weight after you are packed imo.

don't forget the welder and cutting torch! ;)

Nancy and I were laughing last night thinking about the thief selling that hot trailer.

Would go like this,

"Hey guys, wanna buy a trailer cheap? It has no wheels or tongue but you can drag it with a chain or haul it in the back of your pick up truck".
"But it is cheap"
"And for what it's worth, I will give you a really good deal cause the tag doesn't match the trailer". ;)
