It's actually (new) the filler strips that I had holes cut in...not the originals. So I wanted to match the paint on the new ones with the mods. I'll try the NAPA thing, that sounds promising. I had a local body shop paint them and they look so so, but I would like it to be the right paint.
Is this paint restriction for the first year only or will they never release the paint?
They normally use PPG paint. You can thru a body shop get the painy codes. My buddy did a great job on a 2003 Anniversary Gunmetal paint job for lower fairings. One thing about a bike, there are not too many pieces thjat touch and therefore must be a perfect match. Even with the exact can of metallic paint, the color can vary due to the painter, distance from the piece, temperature, air pressure, etc. Certain paint like the anniversary Silver were painted with a unique process that will be hard to duplicate.
On our CVO SERKs, the frame is powder coated and the body pieces are not, so there is a color variation from the factory anyway.
That's why Black is such a nice color.
