Yeah, but that candy/black is not an '06 CUSE color. ? ? ? ?

Look closer.  It's not even a SEUC paint job.  More of an (improved [in my opinion]) homage.  He repainted the new bike to something he liked better.

Hard not to like a guy who likes red bikes.....

That is a custom paint job he's had done on his bike. Similar as it appears to the '07 paint it is not a factory paint job.

Another one here that doesn't remove the lowers (and mines aren't vented). Personally I like the look of the bike w/the lowers on, and I think it makes it stand out more. I have thought about getting a pair of '06 later lowers and having them painted to match my stock ones just so I could have the vents.

As Terry mentioned the only time there will be issues are when you stuck in traffic not moving or at a light. When it gets that hot I try to avoid both.

Gary...I think it was JCZ who had some mod done to his lowers to make them vented..had them made out of polished stainless or something like that.  You may want to contact him to see if I'm thinking right or full of chit.

I think the lowers tie the bike together in looks as well... :2vrolijk_21:

Jerry...he had his whole bike repainted.  Looks good!

Last Sunday I was walking in Custer State Park and a bike went by that was about the same color.  It had the leather Tour-Pak.  It was a pretty new Ultra.  -Looked very nice.  -But I have never seen that color on either an '06 or '07 SE Ultra.   :nixweiss:  -the SG  (I understand the bike in this particular thread has been repainted- and looks very nice by the way)

re: the lowers... I rode last year in the heat with the lowers on.... the heat did not bother me at all. Last night was the first time, I've ever removed the lowers to ride......it gives the bike another look. It's cool that you can dress her up or down.......... :bananarock:

Completely agree on the dressing up and down.  I've jokingly referred to mine as a tri-vertible for it's various looks even with the lowers on.  Full King tour pak for that rugged family truckster look, chopped tour pak for a sleeker line, and no tour pak at all with both Corbin backrests for a nice cruiser look.  Being able to change the machines to whim or use is actually a bit of fun.

Thanks Terry. I know there are ways (aftermarket) to have this done. I believe EGlide is one of the companies that has these. :nervous: I however like the stock look of the '06 and later over any of the aftermarket ones I've seen.

EGlide Goodies and Hoppe were the two sources back when JC and others originally did that deed.  They're still out there and seem to be good functional kits too.

I'd love to take off my tour pack and cruise the beach..........but.......is it possible, it seems like it would be a major PIA. :nixweiss: with the cb, amp and all...... :( BTW, there is no way that I'd be able to ride around without my amp........ :bananarock:)

The leather tour pak can be removed or made detachable.  Several here have fought that battle and won quite successfully.  The amp is a curve ball though.

At least one member here has moved it to the saddlebags.  Most have removed it when prosecuting alternatives with the tour pak.

You do have at least very effective alternative to the amp if you'd like to have the flexibility of taking the tour pak on and off though.  Check out a company called HawgWired.  They offer an amplifier kit that will install inside the fairing. It is actually larger and "cleaner" than the stock amp.  With it you could completely lose the stock amp and that large harness that goes to it.

If this is a solution you might find yourself interested in contact a site member here called HD Dude.  He's a dealer for the company's product line.  He'll be able to offer full insights in to the installation as he's done several.  He can also offer you a discount from the company's posted prices.

I installed one of these units quite some time ago.  Before Dude was even on board with the company and offering their products.  My own experience and that of everyone else I remember using them have all been very very positive.  It's good parts to allow you an option with the tour pak that you didn't effectively have before.

Thanks.  That was a winter project.  Turned out sweet.  Was a hassle in progress.  But turned out sweet.  The diamond cut against good light is like facets reflecting up on the red powder coat too.  I'm still likin' it more and more all the time  :2vrolijk_21: .
