The dealer received my bike late January '06, so I'm in the build range, but when I enter the VIN# and mileage, I just get a list of routine service stuff.  I don't see anything about a notice regarding the regulator.

Phaze,

Go ahead and check the date code on your regulator as described above (#8). If your date code is within the affected range contact your Dealer.

I figured it out, I had created a user ID registered and logged on with my info and then another screen comes up with that info with A RECALL "Recall Notice: 0902: 2006 TOURING REGULATOR" .So You have to login first because I just tried it without logging on and is just showed the suggested maintenance with the  amount of miles I filled in.

Thanks tgent103!  I logged in first, so my CUSE did automatically come up.  I put in the approximate mileage and clicked, but still just got the routine service stuff.  My bike is at the dealer now, so I can't check the info on the regulator.  I'm going to ask the dealer to check it out while the bike is there.

Hmm, my wife lost what we thought was her stator during a SW trip last year on her '06 FLHX.  She had the same symptoms ultrafxr reported above.  The stator was replaced in Roswell, New Mexico (it was 106 degrees in early June) and before we got 100 miles out of town the symptoms reappeared.  We managed to limp into Albuquerque where the regulator was replaced.  Since that was in June she's probably OK.  I'll check the number as soon as I get home.  Thanks for the heads up.

I’m sure the Dealer is already aware of this, but if you want to avoid a possible misunderstanding when talking to the Service folks, reference bulletin number M-1204 in your discussion with them.

Hey Guys,
Was checking out the on-line service check up and saw this Recall Notice: 0902: 2006 TOURING REGULATOR for my 06 FLHTCUSE. I called the steeler and he checked it out. The recall came out yesterday when I asked what I should expect with the problem he replied theres a possibility with some of the 45,000 touring bikes made of the REGULATOR shorting out and the bike would just shut down (what a relief, only that) he had to ordered the replacement due to CVO's coming with a chrome REGULATOR.

I checked mine out on the web site and couldn't get my bike to come up, but thought I would check with the dealer.  He entered my VIN and guess what; he said mine was on the recall.  I must have not done something correct.  :nixweiss:  I guess that being said, probably wouldn't hurt for those who are not sure to have their dealer check it out.  My dealer said they were going to be sending out the notices this week.  They said HD was going to be sending a large shipment of the regulators to each dealer based on the stats of who needed replacements.  I do have one question for the group;  when riding, I notice my voltage regulator guage is running at about 14, and was wondering if this has anything to do with the problem.  If not, what does everyone else's guage read while riding?  Again, thanks to this group for the great information. :2vrolijk_21:

My Gauge is all pegged at 16v it is total Worthless, If yours is at 14 I bet that's why yours is recalled. Most of the 06 owners have complained of the voltage Reg gauge do a search and you will see how they went to the dealer and had it checked and changed. To no satisfaction.

As far as i know, 14 Volts is where its supposed to be.(at least close to 13.7V or so) ..16V is time to check the gauge or the regulator... :'(.
Anyway- I 'm going to wait until I get the letter...

14.3 to 14.7 @ 3,600 rpm is the number. If the volt gauge is not functioning correctly, you would think that a simple check with an external voltmeter would confirm the issue.

I spoke to the service manager at the dealership this a.m.  I am on the recall list, so I'll be getting a new regulator installed.  The dealer talked like they had black ones come in, but was going to check to see if they had the chrome unit.  He's going to get back to me.

Mine came up when I ran the VIN on the HD web site, delivered late November 05.  Since mine's already at the dealer, called & told him that I needed the regulator.  Initial response was "no problem" just had 19 of them come in.  But when I reminded them that I needed the chrome regulator, oops, we'll have to order that.  No problem with the dealer taking care of this but kinda makes me wonder if they would have tried just installing a black regulator had I not pointed out to them that I needed the chrome version, probably...

The bulletin that covers this issue outlines that a quantity of black regulators will be shipped automatically but the chrome ones must be ordered as needed.
