I got my Freedom pipes,Se air filter and PCIII last Tuesday, Mar.8 and slapped them on that evening. I've got a little over 500 miles on the pipes and can say they work well. Both sound and performance have improved. The engine hits the rev limiter much more quickly and except for some loping at idle the bike runs cleaner and crisper. I was a little surprised not to lose much, if any bottom end. I had Rineharts on my Stage II 95" build and had to go to the 2" baffles to move the torque curve down.
The pipes came from Freedom "tweaked" to account for the billet brake lever on the SEEG's. The tweak amounted to a strategically placed ding on the front header pipe. The heat shield had been ground down for fitment purposes but I needed to grind on it some more. Not a big deal but it took several trips to the grinder to get it right. The hardest part of the install was getting the old pipes off. The new ones went on without any problems except for the previously mentioned heat shield fitment at the rear brake pedal. Get a decent spring puller for the heat shields. I used one that came in a KTM tool kit from my dirt bike days and had no problems whatsoever.
I was somewhat surprised to receive one of the new paper filter elements with the air filter kit. I wanted the older oiled filter. I called Freedom and advised them I would be installing the oiled filter and asked if I needed a re-map. They said no. I just found one Sat in Wenatchee and installed it this evening. Part #29442-99A. We'll see.
As I mentioned above he bike was loping at idle. I added a little fuel (went from a -14 at 5% throttle to a -9) and that seemed to help. About half way through a 500 mile weekend run the bike didn't want to drop back down to a normal idle (about 1000 rpm), seemed to want to hover around 100-200 rpm's higher. It may just be a cable issue. If not I'll go back and install the Freedom map and see if putting it back to their suggested settings makes any difference.
My wife rode my (now hers) RKC this weekend. Several times when she was in the lead and went to pass I ran right up her azz. She claims she had the throttle pinned in 4th. If that's so the SEEG is deceptively fast. Plenty of power everywhere in the power band. So far so good. I'm happy!
