Have to agree on the ease of installing springs.  I put the freedoms on yesterday and had no problem.  I used a set of picks I bought at sears in the automotive section.  Get one with a curved end, like a puller and it's a snap.  Haven't had the displeasure of breaking one yet.  Curious to see how they hold up over time.

My only complaint were slight ones on pipe fitment.  The bolts that you "slip" into the back of the front pipe to attach to the bracket under the clutch could have been tighter.  The 5/ 6 x 3/4" bolts kept turning and I couldn't tighten them.  Would up taking some larger bolts (9/16) and notching them on a grinder and using them.  Stronger anyway.

The other frustration is that the left pipe has a slightly noticeable angle downwards toward the end of the pipe.  The mount on the starter and the clearance over the primary are fine but I wasn't able to get it low enough to run completely parallel like  the right side.  Don't really notice it unless you're the guy who put it on and likes everything symmetrical.  Other than that, everything was pretty easy.  Really like the way Brad notched the heat shield and recessed the header around the brake.  Gonna finish the job tonight and ride tomorrow!

Big Daddy i can see your at sea level ma. Iam in Fl. sea level also. Did you buy the loaded pc with your pipes? When do expect to get the bike dynoed? I would like to see a dyno at sea level. As that is where ill be doing all my rideing. The new rhineharts have the clamps and one piece heatsheilds i was hopeing the freedom pipes would have the same, guess not! Ive been watching this discussion with interest very informitive on the freedom pipes. I think i would opp for the machined foot brake as ive read they have done for others. May wait till they improve the package for the seeg   Thanks Doc great site. [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

The problem I had with the springs on the covers wasn't the springs or the tool I used for the installation. It was the D/A that was operating the tool! ME!
Will not go into what I did but I learned my lesson.

And have 6 extra springs left over! [smiley=xyxthumbs.gif]

Hello all.
Yep another newbie to the forum.
I've been racking up the break-in miles on my new SEEG, and have been feverishly reading the threads on this forum. It has opened up a bunch of information to me, and I appreciate everyone's experiences/input.

Questions on the Freedom setup:
[list bull-redball]

Is there anyone out there in the Northeast who is running this setup? I would love the opportunity to see/hear the pipes before I go for the package, as it seems to be the hot ticket for these 'Glides.

Other than the Freedom package, who has experiences good luck with any other true-dual setups on these? I have Samsom headers and Hooker muffs on my 95" Road King, and have been pretty happy with their performance/sound.

Thanks.

I forgot to add above that as to the longevity of the springs I've had Rineharts with the springs on my '04 RKC since Dec. '03 and over 20,000 miles.

DDL, same here.  25,000 miles on my '04 SEEG and no problems w/ the springs on my Reinharts (YET).  Don't know what the longevity is, we'll have to keep a check on 'em.  At least they don't loosen up and start rattling as the clamps sometimes do....... [smiley=biggthumpup.gif]

Thanks DDL,

I put 300 mi on the bike this weekend and as I look at the pipes, it's only a very slight downward tilt on the left side.  Nothing I'm gonna worry about  Think I'm just being a little too anal.

The freedom setup is great.  I was surprised that they weren't too loud.  Certainly louder than stock, but much less than my V&H slip-ons.  Thanks for the info on the springs.  I'm gonna get some spares just in case I ever have to pull the shields for any reason.
