Harley will be Harley, and will suffer their usual delusion of thinking people will pay silly prices.  Trouble is with these, there are so many established competitors whose prices will be a lot lower than Harley thinks they can charge.

If Mother Harley only had a brain they would drop the Dirt Glide and use that engine for baggers. They could make it more appealing to the eye and also match those torque #s to go with the 145 hp & MAYBE they might have a fighting chance against the Challenger .... I wouldn't hold my breath though.

Yes.  Good marketing, promise something and get the interest but then the thread didn't deliver.

Harley is also getting back into the smaller bike market. They are teaming with a China bike manufacturer to build a 350cc bike. The frame and motor will come from the China manufacturer. Initially it only be sold in Asia, time will tell if it comes to the USA?

If it comes to the U.S.!?!  Hell they, (HD) probably is all ready ordering up some more containers to go along with all the containers full of screaming eagle, shirts & parts already being shipped to us.  It might be cheaper for HD to buy their own ship by then!

Was trying to be nice . Would think Harley would know selling a bike with a China motor and frame would be a flop in the USA. It could be a big seller in Asia, depending on the price.

Understand, I couldn't resist the chance to poke some fun.  I hate the fact that nothing is built here anymore and all the companies blame it on being worldly when in fact it is just plain old profiteering.  Also, not to stray to far from the thread, I saw the naked bike at the LA show and in my opion (coming from & still owning sport bikes) its nice but looks like the rest and I / we know it will cost more and offer less in the spec department, so probably another Dudwire?  Now the Adventure bike (DirtGlide, love that name) is peeking my interest if with the v twin they keep it thin in width & keep the weight down casue that is my main complaint with the competition , to big and bulky.  I'm an old dirt bike guy also and don't want to ride a 600 pound monster in the dirt!

Check out the BMW GS850. As you said, Harley has real competition today. They cannot rely on there brand loyal customers, they must actually compete.
