Gene does a great job, he has done some pretty serious CVO matches in the past and they have all turned out great. I am sure you will be happy with the results.

Thanks for your help LC! I think he's the guy for this. He'd be interested in interfacing directly with this site too. I went thru who we are and what we're into here. He'll probably sign on to make it easier to communicate with all of you. I think we found us a CVOHarley Painter!!! Hoist! 8)

Howie,

I am in the process of working out a design with a local custom painter right now.  Could you either post or PM me with at least a ballpark of what you are expecting the cost to be?  I should know in the next day or two from mine and will do the same.  We are looking at a match of the color and flames and then some additional custom work.

Thanks

I was at my local dealer this week and a customer was having a set of hard bags painted to match their 07 FLHRSE3 in Lazer red. I asked who was doing the paint work and they said the "shop that does HD's custom paint".  I asked where it is, Tempe AZ! In fact, the shop is approx 3 blocks from my office. I did some checking with our marketing guys, and yes, the shop does the limited edition paint work for HD. I am traveling this next week but plan on going down to the shop and getting the low down. Might be a solution to get the "real deal" done to a set of hard bags. More to come.

Just be aware that there is more than one shop that does the CVO and Quarterly/Wicked Paint sets. Gunslinger in Colorado does quite a few of them, as does Caliber. So the shop close to you may not be "the Shop". Also I have called the specific shops trying to get custom color matches done in the past and as they are under contract throught the motor company they can not do unauthorized paint work (in other words if its a HD color scheme the motor company has to approve it).

TN Fatboy and I both shipped our bags to Paint By Gene today! Packing and packing materials, freight and insurance was a little pricey. About 100 bucks. Gene said it would take about 4 weeks. So with shipping each way and painting time, we should see them in about 6 weeks. I can't wait to finally have the needed room. I could barely fit what I needed for a weekend in the Adirondacks, including rain gear, tools and room for my leather when it got hot. One day HD will realize they built the best hot rod touring bike in the SERK and not a barhopper! ;) Hoist! 8)

Glad to hear you got them shipped out. I'm sure they will turn out great. Wondering if you went with new, standard hard bags, or some thing different? It would be great to see some work-in-progress pics if Gene provides them to you.

Hey SK, I got hold of a set of used bags from a Gold SERK, in excellent condition. Most of the hardware was missing, so I ordered all new hardware for it, including the HD flamed latch covers. I shipped Gene everything and he's gonna paint them, regasket them and install all the hardware, so I just have to put them on when I get them. I'd love to see WIP pics too. I put a call in to him. When I hear back, I'll run that by him. Thanks. Hoist! 8)

I believe it was Ben Franklin and the broken clock is right TWICE a day, (unless it is digital)

 ??? ??? ???

To answer your question marks, my Breitling watch has this cool rotating scene at the top that shows the sun during the day and the moon at night. Back in Franklin's day, very few people owned pocket watches etc, but oranate grandfather clocks were in many homes. Most clocks of this type had mechanical scenery that depicted night and day.I believe Franklin's quote was " once a day "  but I'm willing to concede defeat if someone can find it. d00d ?  Twolane ?

As much as I both enjoy and admire Ben Franklin quotes about clocks aren't something I'm likely to give up cranial storage room to.  Franklin might get my attention for things like:

"We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately."

or

"There never was a good war or a bad peace."

I might even enjoy the quote often attributed to him (but which really didn't happen) about beer coming from a God that wanted us happy.  But a quote about a clock....  ?

Franklin never had a digital watch either.  When the battery goes dead it's right zero times per day.

How long you been waiting Mike? Gene should have ours on Mon, and told us no more than 4 week turnaround. Another week shipping back. I'm expecting them back here before the end of July. This guy seems to be very helful and cooperative. If his paint is as nice as he's been to deal with, I'm expecting to be very happy with the Hard Bags. Hope yours come out the way you expect.

And if it's too buggy down there, come on up here. I'd be happy to show you around the mountains!

Thanks Howie...I'd love to but alas I must toil at a job for beer, rent and cigar money, the rest I waste.
I would like to more time off to ride, just ain't in the cards right now.

It has been 3 weeks I guess.  My painter did spend two week fixing my fuc* up on the wifes Dyna (Dragonfly Green color change paint).  He did not like the 1st attempt and ended up redoing the whole top half.  It came out perfect.

The Black Ice is on the bags, fairing and looks outstanding, It should be soon, 2-3 weeks maybe depending on the striper/leaf master.  The VLD is due next week also, so I am thrashing around like a run over snake to make room for it.
