Howie, your keeping the original motor right? My brother in law as a 84 FXRDG he bought new, only 853 made that year, nice bike, it was his first Harley.

Yes I am Talon. Was  the DG the one withe the enclosed chain housing on it? His is a rubber-mounted 5-speed design. The FXWG is a soild-mounted 4-speed design. He's got himself a real keeper too! :2vrolijk_21:

Not sure with that S&S in it. If it were ever to sit in a museum or a show, I would think it would need the original engine. That's why I'm keeping it. JIC, 25 years from now, if I can't ride anymore, or aren't around, the bike would have good value with all the original parts. Like I said, I find a bike I really love and keep it. The plans are to keep it forever. But when I'm gone, my family can reap the benefits. That's why I save everything original. ;)

Yes, I don't have any pic's, but could get some, theres a scratch in the rear fender, needs to be fixed, kids dropped something in the garage and it hit the fender!!!  :-\ This is off the net, but same, he has a different front wheel on it, but has the original, also has the factory two tone leather seat on it in good shape.

That's called "patina" on a antique(35 years). The machine is not always penalized for "beauty marks"...Original equipment is the key.

TA Don!!! :P Gene got back from Sturgis on Tues. He said it's the next thing going out the door, now that he finally got my spoilers. I'm expecting them back by the end of the month. So sorry for not recognizing the full status.  My bad. 

Well TA Howie, that's not quite as exciting as the engine work and its process.  But it's exciting nonetheless.  I think that's going to be a huge improvement in the overall looks of the bike.  That you'll have a lot more space to use is even better  :2vrolijk_21: .
