Thursday will be a silver and black day at Traxxion in Atlanta.

Taking the two Classics and the Frontier in the morning.

The two Classics are on schedule and a review of the Frontier for later work will be done.

Thanks TC, Don and Howie for helping me lose weight in the wallet!

After the Traxxion upgrade is done, you'll wonder how you ever rode without it.  Now you'll have  a front suspension that handles the way it should from the factory.

I'm here at Traxxion and they are working on the Classics.

Mike has taken a ride on the Frontier and wants another guy to ride it before they suggest a plan of action.

(but he was impressed with the power) :o

Not to sound like Howie but updates will come later!

Ordering parts and installing them yourself isn't really a wise way to go. I don't even know if they will just sell you parts. The best way to do it is to pull the legs out of the front end and send them off for them to do the install for you. I've seen them do the work, and it is not a simple bolt-in install. The sliders are bored and ground and there are a number of things I would feel better aobut letting them do.

Several members on the site have shipped their legs to them and I believe all have been happy with doing it that way.

I'm not sure as I haven't ever actually asked them. I suggest calling them and speaking to Mike. He'll be able to give you all of the details.

Wasn't it somewhere in this thread where somebody sent there forks to Traxxion and said how long a turn around it was. :nixweiss: I know Roger was one of them, but I think it was also another member.

What Chief said...Traxxion will not allow anyone but an authorized service tech to install their system because of the machine work involved.  They do not do anything to your forks to make them where you cannot go back to stock, but have to do some stuff to make them ready to accept the AK-20 cartridges.  If you look at the Traxxion Group Buy thread it explains how to ship them, let them do the work, and then reinstall.  There has been at least 3 people who have done this and were happy with the result.  Turn around time depends on how backed up they are, and is generally longer during the peak riding season.  They are very careful with your chrome legs!!

Personally, if I lived too far away to take the bike to them, my choice would be to ship the forks to Traxxion.  They have expert techs to install the system, and do hundreds per year on HD's, Wings, and various crotch rockets/race bikes.  They have a few other service centers around the country, but without first hand experience doing the initial install, I'd only trust the guys at Traxxion.

There is a form on their website to complete for this process.  Give them a call...talk to Mike or Dan and they will help you out with this process.

My suggestion would be to call them prior to shipping.  I think the guys who shipped did so on a Monday, two day UPS, and got them back in 7-10 days.  You'd probably only be down one weekend, depending on shipping methods chosen.  Whatever the case, the vast improvement is worth the effort!!!

I just reviewed the first seventeen pages of this thread, and there are posts in there from Roger (RJobs749) and Bob (Boatman) giving the dates that they shipped there's to Traxxion (first of April) and when they got them back (4/19&23). It's looking like between shipping (back/forth) and having the work done it took them between 14-21 days. They were done in April which I would think would probably be a busy time for them. Having them done in a non-riding time (season) may have a shorter turnaround.

Thanks for the info; I just shot them off an email.  How hard/expensive is the R&R for the local shop?

I'm standing here with Mike now and he said 7 to 10 days turnaround.
He noted that UPS ground from the left coast will take about 5 days for shipping.
So 10 days (to and from) for shipping and 10 days turn around would get you at your 21 days for a left coast deal.

Their season is Jan thru July.
So the 7 to 10 days will be beat August thru December.

Hope that helps.

Depends how trained their chimps are. You'd probably need to ask them since the bike will not be mobile without the legs. They should be able to direct you as how to proceed.
