Re: New 2007 CVO Ultra Question...
« Reply #15 on: April 06, 2007, 11:20:38 PM »

Greetings,

I have a CVO Ultra on order which should be here (WI) mid-May.  I've been reading quite a bit on-line about the new CVOs and the 110 engine.  Would I be better to cancel my order and wait until MoCo has fixed the issues with the new motor (heat problems primarily) or continue with the buy.  Also, the dealer reccommended he put on Reinhard exhaust, remap, and SE air filter kit.  This being a CVO SE bike, why doesn't it come with the SE performance components?  I'll be paying enough.  The dealer said he would add these things to the bike for "about a grand".  Is this a reasonable price?  Do I need the whole SE air filter kit, or just the air filter itself?  How does the exhaust sound that it comes with.  I don't want something annoyingly loud, but I like to hear the rumble, and let all around me know I'm there, and it's a Harley.  Will a remap take care of the upgrade, or do I need to have an additional component installed.  I'd appreciate your feed back on this.  I am wondering if this bike is worth the extra money, and if the dealer is giving me a good recommendation.  I'll respond back if there is some question as to what I am talking about.  Thanks!

Consider the $1000.00 just the down payment.  There more chrome, shocks, tires, cams, etc.

I agree with you 100% Hoist, I only brought it up because in his post  there is no mention of a tuner, just a remap.  And for "about a grand" I would highly doubt a tuner in there with Rineharts,& A/C installed.  Just pointing out that I would not go with just a downloaded map from the MOCO.

As others have mentioned, the heat problem was more my issue than anything else. At intersections that had more than two timed lights, I had to put the kick stand down and get off the bike leaving my leg hung over the set so that my inside thighs didn't burn up, but allowed me to get back quickly when the light turned green. Very annoying to say the least and a bit embarrassing.

As suggested here on this forum and others that I'm a member of, I replaced the muffs with the SE 4" high flows, K&N filter setup and S.E.R.T. then had it mapped.  Power/torque(94.6 hp/108.4 torque) not much to really brag about, but the "heat is gone". I'm warm and fuzzy now and just plan on riding without thoughts of burning up the bike. Just my .02 worth.

I have an 07 FLHTCUSE2 and my girlfriend has an 07 FLHX, The stock mufflers on the FLHX were much louder than the stock mufflers on the FLHTCUSE2. Seems odd? I have since changed to a Rinehart 2 into 1 (plus a PCIII and Big Sucker). Bite the bullet now, buy the bike, do the mods, and ride it like you stole it.  We aren't gettin any younger! Just my 02 .

Here is another question, and maybe a different direction to go with the exhaust issue...Are the baffles removable in the exhaust that comes with the FLHTCUSE2?  The reason I ask is because I had great success with my last bike using Thunder Monster baffles inside SE II slip-ons.  Great performance and sound, and I would be happy going this route again.  If the baffles are removable, does anyone know what the inner diameter of the pipe is

The only info I can give you is that outside dia. is 4".   And I would really doubt that they can be removed simply because of the catalytic converter inside those big "POS" mufflers.

The inital money spent for the mods are well worth not going thru the headache dealing with the dealer or the MoCo if the engine cooks it's self

It's just a saying bro, too many people wanting CVO's that ride like their grandma and only put on a couple thousand miles a year to retain resale value. (Not on this forum though) It's like that saying, "if you have to ask, you can't afford it", and if one has to ask weather to get a CVO or not, they should probably stick to a stock bagger. To me, when someone asks weather to get a Harley or or not, if they have to ask, they shouldn't. Although jerjohnson has legitimate questions, it's kinda like a woman, if you want her bad enough, you bite the bullet and just deal with her issues. But in the interest of  camaraderie, no offense meant.

Hey Ugly John....can you give me the part # of the SE slip on's that fit your CUSE2?  I am confused as to which ones fit and don't.

Thank you.
