Ok,
Stop and think about this. H-D made some moderate changes to the Twin-Cam platform in 06 and then went ALL IN in 07 with something like 240 changes. Do you really think they're going to drop all that money on the table and walk away from it in one year. Uh uh  They have gone to a 110 that while it's a dog by our standards makes good 50 state legal power. You will see the 103 motor become standard on production models soon, followed by the 110 later on. You won't see a V-Rod in any other form that the current styles for many years to come. We are a progressive bunch, those of us on this website, we are not stuck in the past mourning the loss of the knucklehead, panhead, shovelhead and evo, But the core of H-D's customers is not us sorry to say. It's folks that like to buy a bike and not have it yesterday's news the following year. I know people with 05 and 06 UC's that are livid at the 07's having 96" and a 6-speed. No, I'm sorry to say, it'll be 2012 or later before you see a water cooled H-D touring bike. NOT TO SAY, someone couldn't take TC's concept bikes and have them custom made. I mean look at our own Silver-Black (Chip) If anyone is responsible for TMCC building a custom bagger beyond their employees, I'd say Chip is. Look at Cycle Visions. They've been building V-Rod baggers for several years. I don't see folks knocking down their door wanting them. So don't pin your hopes on anything other than a continuation of what we've seen. Maybe a CVO FLHX, more than likely a SERG2 Sorry to rain on anyone's parade, but the MoCo is a very institutional company, very hidebound. Don't expect anything radical.

This was supposedly from october 2006 issue of motorcyclist i havent seen the mag my self:

"October’s issue of Motorcyclist Magazine reports on a new Harley-Davidson Sportster motorcycle being tested in the Arizona desert. A reader of Motorcyclist saw a water cooled pushrod V-Twin with the word “Sportster” embossed into the engine cases.

Emissions are a growing concern for all motorcycle manufacturers. It’s been speculated that Harley will only be able to make their numbers when they move to liquid cooled engines.

It looks like we will all have to wait another year to get the details since Harley does not talk about prerelease models
."

Whats written in blue is a comment from the website i found the info not mine.
So probably the reader saw the r sporty and tought it was watercooled.Spoertys just dont make sense to watercool. But still some more info.

Because vrods just dont feel right its like owning a different bike than a harley. If they could get the Harley feeling on a revo or anykinda watercooled harley engine with the sound and feel and all i wouldnt mind one only than. :drink:

H-D is having no problem meeting emmision standards with their current lean running motors and catylitic mufflers. But you can dream dude

B B

PS
What would be the point of a liquid cooled Sportster ?  I mean seriously how would it be different from a regular standard V-Rod ?

Well if they could market a watercooled bike at under $7k I think they'd have something, but I doubt they're capable of it. The tooling up costs would kill the deal, because the company bean counters would want a certain percentage rolled into the first year sticker price.
