Nice!

Why do they hide the tag under the TP?

Ya got me, I hated it there, and I didnt like hiding the fender with the below the tailight relo. I think with the loop removed and this cleans up the rear of the bike, granted, in the picture I have the King tour pack on, that sucker is huge and I hate the looks but she likes it and were headed to Laughlin next Friday so its on baby!

Looks real good. :2vrolijk_21: I agree with your thoughts on under the tail light mounting. That is where mine is now and I don't care for it, at all.

I'd like to know more on how you did that. ;)

What did you do as far as loosing the old plate hoop? See my thread from yesterday on my squeal as I mentioned that was my next thing to work on. Incidentally I won the Ebay auction last night so I have a second hoop to experiment with.

I cut the loop myself but I dont recommend it. Now I have to find something to cover the holes and then get the whole thing chromed, too  much hassle and expense, easier to just buy the ready made brackets. Check them out at www.bruisersinc.com  I have to check Kuryakyn because I saw another bracket at the Hearts to Heroes ride last week and didnt get to talk to the owner, so I checked JP and now I need to check Kuyrkyn and the others. This guy had a flat chrome piece that looked really good. Someone else on here used the Autogem lights and the brackets that come with them. That way you can get some more light back there too. The lights are a little different color though, they dont match whats already there. Let me know how it goes and for gods sake, take pictures!

JUST SO HAPPENS I'm a Bruiser Dealer. I was going to machine a couple of filler plugs for the tube but after seeing the $10 price tag for theirs it is not worth me turning on the lathe.

I want to know more about how you attached the tag bracket and so forth. :2vrolijk_21:

To fill the holes, a buddy of mine glued some head bolts inside the tube and then attached headbolt covers onto the exposed head of the headbolt. Looks pretty slick, and there are a ton of head bolt covers out there, so you should be able to find something you'd like.

I do have a question about doing this, I want to do it, but this question keeps haunting me. Is the hoop necessary for more than just bolting the plate bracket to? Does it add stiffness to the rear of the frame by joining the two side together? Is frame rigidity reduced by removing this ugly, but possibly necessary piece?

I dont think so, but hey, I'm no engineer! I see a lot of bikes with it removed, and I've never heard of any issues. I've heard of lots of issues, but never ever have I heard anything about removing the loop. I think the moco just used it to hold up the license plate bracket, they watch to see what the general biker public does to the bikes and copy it! I dont think I've seen them come up with one original idea, (no offense MOCO guys) and dont think they dont monitor this website, because, THEY DO!

Not yet, Skycuse2 used a radiantz side light with three LED's and double sided tape to hold it under the fender. I have the light under the turn signal bracket shining down and it kinda shines some light there. Not enough really, but I'll be adding the radiantz LED's soon, maybe in orange!

What does that $10 get you? I thought you had to buy the brackets from them and the filler plugs fit in thier brackets only. Will they just fit in the cut loop holes? If so, I'm in. Let me know.

I thought about that but, I'm concerned about rusting. When you cut the loop its very difficult to get it perfectly straight and then it leaves the edges jagged and doesnt really look to good if you look closely. In the end,  you would want to get it chromed.

I want to know more about how you attached the tag bracket and so forth. :2vrolijk_21:

Heres the bracket on ebay,   http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/KURYAKYN-CURVED-LICENSE-PLATE-FRAME-4-HARLEY-9157_W0QQitemZ140107107180QQihZ004QQcategoryZ35575QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem   I found it for 39.95 with 10 bucks shipping. You jsut remove the bracket under the fender, which is 2 bolts on the  side and one nut under the fender tip, slip this plate bracket over the center peice of the bracket, line it up and drill a couple holes, (you'll see how it works when you get that bracket off) then put it back together and bend the bracket a little to follow the line of the fender. Simple job. and like I mentioned before, Skycuse2 did it originally and helped me with part numbers.

So do you think a larger OD would be better with a recess for the cut end? Or just make them so they slide in and are held with a screw or siliconed in?

What is the ID of that tube? I ask as I have not cut mine yet. I'm going to give a bud a call with a CNC Lathe (mine is manual and good for one set) and see what would be involved with turning out a few sets. Maybe a set semi pointed and a set with a blunt end.
