Corbin rider backrest shaft cover
« on: April 27, 2007, 08:36:57 PM »

Several months ago I posed a question as to whether anyone had covered the metal bar on the rider backrest for the Corbin 2up SEUC seat. Since then I have been on a quest to find a solution. Seen here in its "virgin" form.

cut in place and glued on (the original piece of leather will give 3 templates, still have a spare if I want to try again!)

I guess my true OCD ( not chrome obsession REAL OCD) kicked in. Like many things may not bother many but bugged me every time I looked at it. Really was trying to find a pouch like on original stock seat but so far this has been the best alternative I could find.  John

Don,
I have to admit that it is not the home run I had envisioned, but between that and my Paxil I do feel better! john

John, after you first mentioned this sometime back I developed the annoying habit of actually looking at my own.  With interest and intent.

Fortunately it only lasted a month or so until I realized I'd not come up on any solution that really seemed a home run.  What you've done here is a definite improvement though.  Certainly wouldn't back away from it until some idea much much better struck you.  That little backrest support rod is just a tough spot to do much with.

I honestly think we're getting a bit strange when we talk about chit like this, but what the hell, after awhile it does get difficult to find something on the bike that hasn't been modified in some way. Might as well be covering up our shafts with leather  :o as anything else that comes to mind   8)

Until I happened on this Chillhowhee website had been stuck on getting any kind of leather. They were a great help, the owner actually called after i sent email of what i was trying to do, and sent pix of the leather. Best part it only cost $7, and on this website that is just short of amazing!! john
