And no AJ, you can't come over and watch!!!

Well hell, there's a mental image that's probably going to lead to years of therapy....  :nixweiss:

Now I'm going to need that therapy. Thanks for the mental picture  ::)

I started to write "get a trailer, you'll feel better."  Then I realized that having a trailer in the garage next to the bike is apparently bad juju.  Have barely been able to ride since it got here.

We've had so much rain that all I've done when it has stopped is bail out the boat.

On another note, getting back to this topic, I have a question about the power pulg for the Garmin. On the plug there are two wires for voice (+&-). Can these wires be attached to a 3.5 mm plug and then be connected to the Aux plug on the HK radio to get voice directions? & if so, will it come on over the radio or just if the radio is tuned to aux? Or am I better off just using the cigarette plug with the speaker already built in? Decisions, decisions...

I would not use the power plug with combined speakers.  It's not an outdoor part.  The 27xx and 28xx series Streetpilots have an unamplified audio output plug that can be taken directly to the aux in on the radio.  The 26xx series Streetpilot's aux out port was an amplified output that could not go directly to the radio.  Needed a few bits in between.

If I remember correctly the Zumo has it's aux out port built in to the supplied motorcycle mount. Though for some (dumb) reason I'm pretty sure I remember that being a mono output.

Anything plugged in to the aux in port on the radio will only be heard if the radio is in aux mode.  As far as the radio is concerned it's just another option no different than CD, FM or WB.  And it only handles one at a time.

It is an outdoor plug. I use on on the boat for it now. On that one however I don't have any NEMA hookups, only 12v dc.

That's interesting. I asked a Garmin tech rep specifically whether the water tight spec was for the unit alone or the unit and the speaker bearing power plug.  He told me to avoid getting the speaker/power-plug wet.  That was with the (now) older 26xx though.  Maybe they changed it later or maybe he was just fecally full.

For the other question though, basically any unamplified "standard" audio output can go the aux in jack on the radio if you've got adaptors to make the connection.  If it's an amplified source you'll need more intermediate hardware.

Go look in the 'no more rain' thread. I've had enough. I may need you to come down here.  ;D

2ln, the plug I'm talking about does not have the speaker.

AJ, based only on the fact that all the other current model Garmins have an output on them that could go straight to the radio I don't think it's an unfair assumption to think yours could.  Do the docs with that cable say the audio outputs are for connection to device's input or to speakers?  If the former you're probably ok.  Just need a good weather resistant end on it.

FWIW, even it it's an amplified output it won't hurt anything to try it for a moment.  You'll just get a lot of noise out of the radio.

It is a stereo output, at least all my MP3's that I have loaded on the SD card, and the MP3's that came loaded on the Zumo play in stereo thru the Aux port on my radio.

Thanks Gary.  Knew I remembered some issue of mono output with a Zumo cradle or mount.  Was too long ago to swear on a stack what it was though.  Your post just made me go look to see for sure what was what.  Car cradle that comes with them has a mono speaker for its output.

You're a Zumo owner.  How does it work out in a vehicle without an aux input or CD player to run the various interfaces through?  Does the unit's FM transmitter work well enough to get by with?
