someday....someday!

As it is, we are doing a coast to coast and back this year as part of the Nelson rally...

...but a four corners trip using backroads would be nice at some point!

Howie -

When you cross the Florida panhandle, there are 2 lane ocean roads a-plenty & you have a parking place in the Tallahassee area.  And cold beer (s).

I have plans to do this someday, probably after retirement.

To go from north to south in Virginia there are many great ways to ride depending how far inland you want to be. Trying to stay on the coastal region, the Eastern Shore route then crossing the Chesapeake Bay on the Chesapeake Bay bridge Tunnel is a fun ride.
It sets you up for the Outer Banks of North Carolina too. :2vrolijk_21:

Does anyone have a route for the lower and upper states rides.  Coming from England I can only make 14 days so it may be 2 -3 journeys before I can do the lot..

The reason I started this thread was for site members to post " hey I'm in xxxxxxxx state in xxxxxx city , I'll meet you for lunch as you pass through "  or whatever.  I thought it might be a way for folks who don't make the rally or do cross country rides to meet some of the folks on the site. I didn't start the thread to discuss the route.

sheesh and you guys say I get off topic

Problem is when you get to Ketchikan there still isn't any roads!!!! You can go 10-15 miles North or South  and thats about it. If they ever build the "Bridge to Nowhere" you could also ride to the airport, about a half mile away on Gravina Island!

PS  Don't try to ride to Juneau, Petersburg, Wrangell, or Sitka, same problem! OR for that matter Cordova, Yakutat, Taititlek, Chenega, Seldovia, Chignik, Sandpoint, King Cove, Dutch Harbor or Adak either!!!! Water or air, thats the only way to most of coastal Alaska.

The one time I made the adventure (only word that fits) it was a "planes, trains and automobiles" type of trek.  Several types of conveyance involved.  Shorter boat ride for part of.  Some overland on compacted stuff for part of it.  And some hired ground hauler for part of it.  Had been told we could get there this way.  Got there though.  Took just over two solid days and the old bike was never quite the same again.  But it survived.

Outer Banks of North Carolina :2vrolijk_21: we are only .5 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. You can fall asleep from the noise of the waves crashing on shore :2vrolijk_21:

From here you can take 2 ferries and be in South Carolina the same day.

Speaking of Freud, I once made a Freudian slip to my ex wife. I meant to say "Please Pass the Cornflakes", but said "You ruined my life you self centered.............................""

San Diego County - same deal as above only bed is a double and there's two convertible couches available, both doubles - one in the house, one under the new roof on the pool deck.

If Birmingham, Alabama is on anyone's route, there is a basement for the bike, always a cold beverage in the fridge, a double bed, two humans, and two sweet animals to greet you.
