TC is right imho.  You will love the looks of the shorty, but the wind and noise will be a disappointment.   :-\

AJ? My bike came with two windshields. The short smoked one, and a clear one about 9" I think. I'm thinking my shorty is 6", but I'm not sure. If I'm not mistaken, they make a 4" smoked one too. I like the short one ok, although I do get a lot of wind from it. The 9" one hits m right at eyelevel. I'd catch myself trying to peer over or under it. I never use it. I bought the 12" one just for longer trips. It's enough better than the short one that I'll use it some. If I happened to keep the shorty on, that's really ok to, in my opinion.

Did you not get two with your ride?

Ok, I see what you're talking about now. That is similar to the windscreen that came stock on my bike. Have never met Ken so don't know about his height, but one thing to consider is the buffeting when you get the shorter windshields. So you have to consider your height when picking a windshield. To short a windshield is worse then not having any windshield at all, along with the normal air flow the shorter windshield will direct the air off the fairing right into your face also. You will be dealing with fighting the wind head on, and having the air flowing off fairing/windshield trying to blow your glasses/helmet/hat whatever off your face and head. If you plan on speeds over 30 MPH it's going to make a difference.

With my size, dood I don't need a tall windshield, I need a wider one! LOL

I only got one, the 9 incher. Useless. Hits me the same as you. Replaced it with a 12 and I'm a lot happier.

The only way I'd need it is if my Clearview got damaged somehow.  I'm 5'8" and the stock 6" smoked, while looking good, is much too short for traveling any distance.  It' more trouble than it's worth to swap back and forth just for looks, so just leave the Clearview on all the time.

I just rode 350 miles from SC to NC with the 8" Fast Aire Aero and it is the real deal.
Stereo sounded good and so did the exhaust, HaHa.
I was using the regular 8" Fast Aire light tint and really liked it,
now it is Aero all the way! (I am 6' feet tall).
Hope that helps too.

I just looked at picture below and can understand how Ken may be comfortable w/the short screen. I've met Howie and Don and know their height, and in the picture Ken looks about close to/same height. If I remember correctly you're a little taller, and this may make a difference in getting to short of a windshield.

With my Heritage springer I had a Kingsize windshield as soon as it rained I had to stop as I couldn't see over or through it.   I'm not sure what height any of the guys are, I'm 5'9", what size windscreen would suit me.

I'm 5-9 also Smiler. I use an 18" on my SERK. Could probably have gotten away with the 17", standard Clearview size for RK's. I can see over it OK, but gotta stretch just a wee bit. Hoist! 8)

Thanks AJ, you are a great friend.  So give a call if you head up the coast in NC my way!

Mine came with the 10 inch and didn't come with the batt tender wires??
But did come with potential head gasket leak that was a BIG surprise when I discovered it...

LOL, A J you have got to stop this thing about " trying it out" !! Don`t you know it costs you $$ everytime !!
I had the stock short one on my 06 and replaced it with one 2 " taller because of the short one hit me below the eyes, you are about the same height as me I think you will have the same problem.

Hoist just called. His 4 speed is broken down on the side of the road. :( Nige has the SERK and headed to the bar and Hoist is waiting on parts to come. I'll let y'all know more as it develops!
