Not to be a contrarian, but how do you know this   I hear these rumors all over the place, and it turns out the moco is very good at keeping secrets.

That members of the trade press see them some weeks before the rest of the world has always been a given.  No other way to have product stories ready to release on or shortly after the time the bikes are released to the public.

As rabid is most automotive press is for a scoop and early release photos I've always been a bit amused by what Harley has seemed to have been able to enforce here with its new models.  Some hand picked members of the Fourth Estate see them.  But nobody ever leaks them.  That speaks to either crippling penalties pre-agreed to if anything leaks or an even more total control over its industry, writ large, than any other automaker has ever been able to manage (or both).

** press release HD 2008 models ****

Harley Davidson announces the following models to its line of Motorcycles:

VROD Family
Sportster Family
Softail Family
Touring Family

Many New Chrome Accessories and Clothing with Improved Zippers! (Not ECMs)

HD now encouraging its Dealers to build standard Buildings and sell for MSRP!  (note dealer service offering improvements scheduled for 2010 - see web site for details).

Pricing increases limited to 9% as we've been able to outsource most of our parts supply to China and eliminated all costs related to quality assurance!!!

Unfortunately, we've had to raise the price of the new CVO models 15% to cover the costs related to fixing paint problems in the '06 CVO lines and Head Gaskets in the 07 110 lines (note: we still won't utilize all chrome fasteners and the end user must still spend $5K on the bike to make sure you dont melt the engine and the operator's legs during normal operation).

The New CVO lines for 08 include:  the Screaming Eagle ServiBike - brought back so you can haul even more of your OL's chit (note mini-rack only support 5 lb of beauty products); the SECU3 - released just because we can and we make a hell of a lot of money off it; and the SERG because we are tired of hearing all the bitching about not selling one (oh by the way we still won't put a tour pack on it no matter how much people want it).
