MJZ-
As far as rides go, of course, you’re in the Florida panhandle, so the riding is going to be best along the coast. We don’t have a lot of areas with curves, etc. so my recommendation would be to travel along U.S. Highway 98 as much as possible and skirt along the coastal areas.
A nice scenic route once you get in close proximity to Panama City Beach, would be to start traveling down Hwy 319 & 98 out of Tallahassee, coming through Carrabelle, Fla. ( you’ll see the ole timey phone booth there housing the world’s smallest police station). Continuing on U.S. 98, you’ll come into Eastpoint, where you could detour over to St. George Island and check out the scenery. St. George Island is a barrier island off Apalachicola being apprx. 1 mile wide and 26 miles long.
Traveling through Apalachicola, then continue on in the Panama City and Panama City Beach. Out of Panama City Beach, you can venture over to Hwy 30A and meander around Seaside, etc. then on in to Destin.
Local restaurants on Panama City Beach would be Capt. Andersons, which you need to experience at least once and Angelo’s Steak Pit. Mrs. Newby’s, Thomas Drive, on Panama City Beach caters to the biker crowd and has their famous Hunch Punch…
Of course, once you arrive in the area, you’ll have to venture east, west, or north, since naturally you’ll run into the Gulf of Mexico on the southerly end.
Local Harley shops will be Tallahassee, Fort Walton Beach, Pensacola, and Dothan Ala.
That should get you started; I’ll chime in with some more as I think of it.
