Know what you mean.

Sold a Fender Mustang, a Gibson SG, a Fender Super Reverb Amp, and other assorted goodies (Fuzz boxes, wah-wahs, stuff) over a few months time so the wife & I could eat in 1976.

I shoulda gone hungry.

Saw an original Fender Concertmaster amp the other day - not the redux version. Remember when they were not expensive.

I had a Premier tube type I let go for song when everything was all about solid state. I saw one for sale recently for $800

hindsight - - - - - - always 20/20  :(

All my amps except 1 Gibson were tube type.  The Gibson sucked so I traded it for the Fender Super Reverb.  Only 2 guitars left now are a Martin and the Gibson. Don't play much anymore.

I hear that, Friend of mine plays a little and has several. I mentioned that I always wanted a Gibson Hummingbird and he loaned me one for a few weeks. I was ashamed at how little I'd retained from all the years of lessons etc. Anyway, he took the guitar back a month later and I haven't picked a note since. This thread has me daydreaming though.

The older (70's or so) Hummingbirds have a richer sound than the newer ones.  Never had lessons - self taught (had a poor instructor obviously) - play occasionally for fun now.  The Martin makes me wish I was better at  it.  Daydreaming is good for the soul.

Don't feel at all ashamed about it Brian.  This thread has me daydreaming about it and I never played a note my entire life.

If you want something to feel embarassed about it'd be this.  When I was a younger man there was a stretch of time I was something of a wanderer.  Most of a couple years or so just on the road.  Odd job for a bit to pay for the next stretch of gas money.  Then on the road again.  Don't remember where or how but for awhile during that time I came up with a guitar and this soft bag to carry it in.  Had it strapped to the back of the bike with the bag full of worldly possessions.  Almost no matter where you stopped for the night; the guitar on the back of the bike would attract some girl's interest.  It was amazing.  Think I traded the guitar later for tires.  Was probably a bad trade.

Good eyes,  yes it is an old  Dobro model 90 . Dobro was bought out by Gibson, this is one of the originals .

It's hard to photograph because of the finish. It is chrome plated bell brass etched with a hawaiin motif.

I saw my first on when I was about 12, and immidiately fell in love with it.  I promised myself if I ever found a real one I'd buy it.  There have been a few companies that made copies, and of course there are the Nationals.  This one has an uncharacteristically sweet sound , it is tuned to open G , and while I intended to use it primarily for slide , I actually play more fingerstyle Celtic as it uses the same tuning.

If god forbid I was down to only 1 guitar it would be either this or the Taylor 612C .
