John,
picked the Jester up this AM.  Satisfied with work - K&N, Vance & Hines TDs, (stock mufflers retained).  SERT installed.  They attritubed the tapping sound I was hearing (and that they heard on Wed) to an exhaust leak.  Well, at this point, the noise IS gone with the V&H installed, but I'll keep listening.  Noise abated some throughout with the AMSOIL and Redline fluids.  Temps dropped off nicely as well.  Still think I'll need a good tune, but riding today in 88 degree weather, oil temp only reached 237 - I'd seen 266 before.  We'll see what happens the first time I get caught in traffic on a 100+ day.
Only bad thing - mechanic or "someone" put a healthy scratch on the lid of the left saddle bag.  No arguments, they've already ordered the new part and apologized profusely.  Good dealer.
Anyway, hope your service experience goes as well as mine did.

Tony,

Thanks for the follow up.  My shop also did not find any evidence of the rocker box issues that have plagued some here.  I hope it stays that way.

I used Mobil One in the engine and kept the Syn3 in the other two holes  (I didn't carry enough MobilOne up to the store :'()  I''ll put in Redline or some other type in the other two at the next change.  I rode for quite some time last Sunday. Ambient temps were in the mid to high 90's and the oil temp stayin the the 220-230 range.  Not bad from what I have read here and on other site.  I have V & H classic ovals, K & N and a SERT. Nothing fancy.

The Service Manager did run a diagnostic on the Dyno and it pushed 85 HP and 100 lb.ft. of torque.  Said he would not change much as the a/F ratio was pretty optimal based on the HD tables for balancing power and gas mileage.  For most of the band of heavy use, A/F was in the 14.6:1 ratio.  I'll run her like this for a while and perhaps get her tuned at the 3-5K mile range.   I know there is a lot more in the engine, but my goal is to really optimize the torque in the lower ranges where I spend most of my time.

I also added a lower chrome belt guard (don't know how I missed that one).

Glad things went well.  Guess we'll both take the wait and see (or is that listen??) approach on the rocker box business.  Temps sound good.  I've had mine LED d-stick get back up to 240-250 on a hot day in slow traffic, but for the most part it's staying in the 220-230 range.  Don't think that's too hot, but summer's still coming :nixweiss:.  I noticed a significant difference on my right leg with the true duals.  Still have the stock mufflers on, their a bit louder now through the TDs and I'm still thinking about the SPOs or the Police Interceptors - maybe just a bit louder  ;).  Not on the dyno yet.  Like you, I'm looking for good performance but probably more in mid-upper range since I travel quite a bit.  I'm more interested in reliability I guess than super torque and HP.
Be safe out there,
Tony

Tony,
You're running right at where I'm running for normal oil temp while riding.  I'm running right at around 220 in 85+ plus weather.  I got stuck in stopped traffic last weekend when it was almost 90 out and my temp got up to about 260.  I told the temps to the dealer and they said that between 210 and 230 should be considered a good riding temp for the 110.  They aren't that expererienced with the 110's yet, so not sure where he got that info.  But I'm happy with the temp...this is just about where my '02 ran on normal riding.

Charlie,
I agree.  My 03 was a bit cooler, but like I told John, the TDs made the "comfort" difference for me.  I'm guessing that if I decide to change out the mufflers and finally get it on a dyno, may even get it a bit cooler still.  We'll see.  Too bad you'll be on the road for the Big Da_ _ Bike Show this weekend.  We'll miss you.
Be safe,
Tony

The "LBD crew" will be there at 0 dark 30.  Registration opens at 0800.  They'll need folks to help out from that point on.  Phyllis and I plan to be there between 0730 and 0800-got to go down to Motorclothes to look at a couple of helmets.
Glad you'll be there - looks like a nice day - maybe some of the other VA crew will show as well.
