I can appreciate your situation. Although mine is a bit different, maybe I could be a bit of help. I'm 6' 2" and weigh close to 300 lbs. I suffered an injury at work 1 1/2 years ago that left me with 4 herniated discs and nerve damage in both the right leg and right arm. My right leg is so bad that I can hardly walk 1/2 block before the leg begins to fail. I just turned 49 a few weeks ago and finally bought my dream bike a few months ago - an '07 FXSTSSE. I've read a few comments about how lousy the stock seat is on this bike, but I personally have to disagree. When I first rode the bike, I had a lot of pain in the right leg and wondered if I would ever be able to ride my dream bike after waiting nearly a lifetime to get it. I found that if I scoot forward on the seat with my hips until my crotch just barely reaches the tank, I can ride for days with no pain!! It's as if I found my "sweet spot". The rise in the seat is just enough to support my lower back as well in this position. This bike does come with forward controls, but the could be just a bit more forward for even more comfort (there is an existing thread on this topic as well), something I plan on checking into further in the near future. My point here is - maybe your seat has a "sweet spot" as well and you won't hafta give up your dream bike either. Try some different, or even "unusual" postures and see if it doesn't make a difference. It's sure cheaper than a custom seat or a new bike!! Let me know how ya make out, Fella!!
