Font Fork Oil
« on: January 10, 2005, 11:12:41 PM »

I replaced the front fork oil with the SE HD juice a couple of weeks back and I like the differance it made . The bike feels more responsive in turns and does not dive so bad when I grab a lot of front brake.
I pulled off hwy into a gas station the first day I made the change at a pretty good clip and noticed at the last min the rain gutter had a high edge to it. When I hit I thought for shure the front fork at compressed enough to mash the top of the fender . I checked the wheel rim it hit so hard. I cant prove it but I think the heavier fluid slowed the forks from compressing fast enough to keep the top of the fender from being dammaged.
12.5 in 440 shocks are next. I keep draging the kickstand and running boards.

David, where you live I'm not sure 0.5 inches is going to make a lot of difference. [smiley=laugh.gif]

Those of you who changed oil to SE oil. What kind of job is that? Do you have to dissassemble the forks?         JR

Yes I would put the heavier oil in while it is apart.  Yes it is a minor hassle because you have to take the outer fairing apart not a huge deal.

If Mrs. We is going to have the drain plugs on the bottom of the forks changed for the chrome ones while their unscrewed she might as well get her nuts changed too.

I'm not sure where to go with this one... [smiley=curtain.gif] will this necessarily involve me, I mean will we both need to be present, or is this a solo act? [smiley=nixweiss.gif]
