Preliminary discussions are late spring, pre Memorial Day. We'll see how it develops. I wouldn't mind doing this near a track. If there's enough of us, maybe we can rent it for the day!

Had a customer yersterday that stopped at a shop about 60 miles north of us ( HD) and his pipes where coming loose, due a bolt that had fallen out. He was on a road trip and thry told him to beat it . ( not really but that you need a apointment type of deal. He stopped in here with the pipe dragging . We put a bolt in it sent him on his way free of charge. I figure his day was bad enough as the pipe was banged up pretty good.  NY plates  No joke , nice springer with big ass apes, and he had just gotten a ticket for the bars being too high as well. SO I think that he needed a freebe.

Unfortunately, don't we all know it Steve. Never used the dealer for anything except w.....ty before due to their overwhelming lack of talent. But then you're sucked in due to the w.....ty BS. You get to the point where it's cheaper to pay, than deal with inferior service and their arrogant, doing you a favor attitude! When you pay, you go where you want and do what you want. Time to stop worrying about getting something for free and get it done right! Hoist!

I have said that about the crank issue's. Sure you get them to fix it but how long does it take and knowing that they install a new crank but the problem has not been fixed it is only a band aid.  What can you do

If the crank's an issue when checked, I'd prefer they get a new crank. That way I'd have to split the cases and I can build a real bottom end, with Timkin conversion and welded balanced crank. Their solution is normally to replace the whole engine. That would be a band aid and not resolve anything. Hoist!

I just picked up the bike. Will wait for SM from new place to get back from vacation and go see him. The ASM, who I also knew, said not to worry, when they schedule me, it'll get done, not sit! Good news if it's true. They also have an excellent engine builder on staff who'll do the work. Maybe this will all work out for the best. Maybe this was the Kharmic reason for this occurrence. Sometimes things are just meant to be!

I called well in advance as to when I would be picking it up. They said the bike would be pulled out and ready for me when I get there. I also asked him, if at the very least, they replaced the defective oil temp/level dipstick. He said no but will do it. So I get there, the bike is still buried by other backed-up bikes, but shows me that he at least pulled out a new dipstick. I don't even get close to the counter to see it's the wrong one! I said the '07's have a threaded dipstick, not o-ring type. He said, "Howie, you know so much more about this than we do. Go to parts and get the right one." So of course I went right up to the wall and picked the correct one, waited for my bike to get pulled out and left. The bike was also completely filthy! This is some scary chit! That will be the absolute last time they see me! I'll give the new dealer a shot. If no better, I'm completely done with dealers and I'll pay to play!

 I agree but some dealers willnot allow that. I cannot see why but they will say no. We just did a 113 for a dealer( case bore) and he could not get the customer to buy the timken. I did it anyway, , we split the cost on the conversion. There is no reason not to do the timken if the cases are split. A 113 at 11.1 with welded heads, andrews 67 cam is going to stress the lower end the timken plays a very important part in the lower end. But some times you just shrug your shoulders and smile and go on with your day!!!!!!!

Howie has gone through something of an evolution (pardon the motor pun) since he started here.  First there was subdued Howie, just checking in.  Then there was concerned Howie, pledging support for the warranty and doing penance before the Travel Gods to keep the warranty in tact and not piss off said Travel Gods who might have a say in such things.  Then there was traveling Howie who had to go on the road and made concessions to travel while still hoping to at least appease the Travel and Warranty Gods.  Now, finally, and in full circle; there is Howie Spawn of Chuckie.  Out to just foik the warranty, ream the dealer and do as he damn well pleases.  Howie was a great guy.  Chuckie is even more fun.

It would be fun to go back and look/read the posts that he made when we "advised" him to do what he wanted (needed) to his bike to make it run correctly. How opposed he was against doing anything that might jeopardize the warranty. We could probably write a book on that evolution.
