Leave 'em on, I say.  If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.  (Got no idea where the heck that came from, feel free to ignore anything that makes no sense.)

Actually, I never remove my lowers, and it doesn't have anything to do with temperatures.  I really enjoy riding without getting small stones, road debris, bugs, etc. bouncing off my shins.  Helps keep the boots clean also.

Took mine off this week when I heard that the temps were going to be 90+ all week.  Seems to be keeping the engine temp down.  I didn't realize how hot the bike was sitting a a stop light until I took them off.  Would definitely put them back on for long road trip and will reinstall for sure this fall when the temps go down.

Is anyone riding with there lower ferrings on in a hot climate. Here in GA. It's high 80's to lower 90's.
Charlie,
I live in southern GA and have never taken them off. Thought about sometimes, but don't notice too much heat, but do help reducing rain spray we get every afternoon! :huepfenlol2: john

Marietta, GA.

Off in the summer, on in the winter. Faster with them off.

here in southern Louisiana, we get regularly have temps & humidity of 90+, putting heat index's well into the 100's.
I love the way it looks with the lowers on, plus the added storage & I have the adjustable freedom-wings so my personal airflow is great.

I had never taken them off my old Ultra (89K mi) and I probably will never take them off this one (Lil Mermaid) either!

I like Ultra's because they have lower fairings.

Restricts speed, enhances wobble, looks like crap, and makes for poor ventilation.  I've always removed them before I ever put any of my Ultra's on the road.  Of course, my opinion is based on running WFO @ 120+MPH.  There endeth the lesson.  Later--HUBBARD

I'll never be able to run with the two H's (Hoist and Hubbard).   They'd be taking off from the fuel stop while I was just pulling in.    ::)

I leave  my lowers on all year.

I had an 02 Ultra and had the dealer take them off before I rode it home.  I tried to put them on for a rainy October trip and wished I had not put them on after I was on the road....too hot. :o

When I picked up my 08 last Saturday I rode it home with the lowers on.  As soon as the bike cooled down the lowers came off and are wrapped up and stored in a safe place.  Too Hot! on me and I am sure they effect the temp of the bike.  And besides all that, I don't like the looks with the lowers on (my opinion - ok).

I have a set of the vinyl snap-on lowers that I carry.  In Oklahoma in the spring & fall it can be frosty in the morning and hot that afternoon -- it can be a clear blue-sky day and in an hour it could be pouring down rain (around here we say "If you don't like the weather, just wait a little while; it will change").  The vinyl lowers are cheap - easy-on & easy-off, and are easy to store in a saddle bag.

At about 110 mph, I found the lower ferrings to help stabilize the the bike.
You should try at 70 mph with no hands on the handlebars.....GREAT.
The lowers have been on since bike pickup. :2vrolijk_21: :drink:

Ahhhh, Cobalt, good buddy.  How do we know for a fact that you aren't older than the rest of us?  No age listed in your profile, looks like you're trying to hide something. :nervous:

Jerry ;D

okay.....nothing to hide here....47 (JUST TURNED :D).  Way too young for full geezer glide status.
