Are Stock 110's Long distance Worthy?
« on: August 03, 2007, 01:06:08 PM »

I know this question will raise a few eyebrows.
But my recent experience of 80 to 100 mile runs begs for an answer.
There have been notable mishaps as far as the engine is concerned.

It's all part of the lure to HD. Hit the road, there are dealers everywhere if you need one.

I only have one long trip in the saddle of my '07. 3K miles in 5 days. The first day over 250 in a torrential downpour. NO issues.
Have had many 500 mile days around home. NO issues.

What was the AMF slogan in the 70's?. . . Buy a Harley. Buy the best! Ride a mile. Walk the rest!   :huepfenlol2:

Seriously though, I'm totally confident in mine  :2vrolijk_21:

Hmmmm, I think I will tie a big chain around my local Bank for the cash flow.
What do you think?   :nervous:

When HD reacquired the company, it stood for Adios MoFo! :D Get the bike, set it up right, get it tuned perfectly, and take it anywhere you want! Everything breaks at some time or another. Deal with it when it happens. Very few have been stranded. Most issues are annoyances that you can help make better while setting your bike up. The way mine rides and runs now was worth all the BS I went thru to get it this way! Don't worry about the bling, as much as getting running right! It might be a CVO, but it's still just a starting platform! ;) Hoist! 8)

I totally agree. I wouldn't hesitate to go on any trip with the bike. It runs great and is just too much fun to ride. I don't let a weepy gasket keep me from riding it.

I agree on the "starting platform".  But you would expect the "platform" to be solid without additions.
True? :confused5: :confused5: It's been paid for. :2vrolijk_21:

You shoiuld expect it for the kinda $$$ we shell out. But you shouldn't be surprised either, when it's a little shaky. Especially a new engine platform. If it's a great platform, it's worth fixing their screwups. The 110 seems to be a very good engine. It's got some issues. If it sucked, it wouldn't be worth dealing with. I'm already used to getting on the bikes and riding 'em, and fixing 'em when they break. Which after fixing them up right, becomes a non-issue. That's been the HD tradition! Good, bad, or indifferent. it's nothing new though. ;)

Thanks Hoist,
I'm kinda new to the HD tradition.  Been use to bikes that didn't have problems when stock.
I apologize.
