I'm kinda new to the HD tradition.  Been use to bikes that didn't have problems when stock.
I apologize.

As soon as the warranty runs out, if not sooner.  I'll take the same rode. I know where their problems lie. :cool26:

i was told weeping is normal now...... :coolblue:.....get used to it or fix it yourself.... :nixweiss:

TN,

They forgot to tell you, the normal "weeping" is from the owner, not the bike. :bigcry:

No such thing as a normal oil leak or head gasket failure in the modern era, so whoever told you that is full of chit.  Unfortunately, the "fix it yourself" part of your post is most likely right on the money.

Vagabond,
There were several 110's in Nelson, with the furthest coming from Houston.  We came from Oklahoma City, putting 5017 miles during the trip with zero problems, pulling my trailer the entire trip.  I'm pretty confident in the motor.  The ecm and electrics worry me more.

Well arcticdude,
I must have a "special one" begging me to do the "right thing" and "spend money" to correct Mo-Co's engineering in the engine.
I've tried everything I know(without going into the engine mechanically), and still come up with "pinging and detonation".  That's the reason for the thread's question.  Come August 7th, a dealer gets a chance to look at it to find out "why".  The motor has 4841 miles on it.  Love the bike, but aggravated to no end.  And I am planning a 4000 mile trip in Sept. Choice of ride?  GL1800(01) or FLHTCUSE2(07). Depends if this goes away.

Vaga,
It's sad that the tolerances can't be reduced enough to get 98% of the bikes out there to run close to the same.  Even pulling the trailer at 85-90mph up hills in Montana in 100+ heat, mine still didn't ping.  Oh yeah, that was in 6th gear.  The "pack" would pull away from me if I stayed in 6th, but a simple shift to 5th caught me back up or kept me with them if I needed to be there.  While I like the radio loud, I still didn't hear any detonation.  I find it amazing that 2 of the "exact same" bike can be so radically different.  So much for technology.  I hope you get yours straightened out.

A frind of mine bought a blue 07 SEUG in Iowa and did a 2,500 mile break in ride home.  Two days later he came to Nelson with me and put another 3,300 miles on it.  He loves the bike and had no problems whatsoever.  So yes, the 110's are long distance worthy.  I hope that you get your issues resolved by the MoCo

There's no reason they shouldn't be dependable.
