Nice shots! :2vrolijk_21: Hey Terry, do you set your legends up higher in the twisities to keep from scraping your floorboards? Diva looks as though she's into the ride as much as you! ;D

JR...when we're riding, the shocks are usually fully extended, especially in the curves.  Just messing around town, I usually have them an inch or so down.  Suzanne is a great BSR, always looking over the correct shoulder on roads like that.  She is INTO it!

I don't know if killboy was there, but I've posted info elsewhere about us129photos.com.  I've already bought photos there from our ride last Friday (08/24).  If you rode it or were at the burn out event at Smokey Mountain. HD, go to the site, click on "BUY & PREVIEW PHOTOS" and then click on the date you were on the dragon (or at the burn out).  You'll probably find that you were photographed.

Terry and others...what manuals do you guys have that really gets into specifics for BSRs dos and don'ts.  My wife loves the whole scene and loves looking at all the pictures that I show her but she is skeered of her own shadow...I am nervous that she is going to jump while we are in a turn because of something she sees and down we go.  Appreciate any reading/watching how to books/videos, whateva.

Just don't get distracted by the cameras... :nervous:  The Dragon does not lend itself well to doing anything but keeping your eyes on the road at all times.
You don't have to worry 'bout the cameras when you've got Bootsie on the back giving a perfect parade wave.  Great pics.....I esp. like the 2nd one with the Reinhart almost scraping. 8)  Yeeow!   :drink: spyder

Great pics thanks for sharing. :2vrolijk_21: Diva sure looks relaxed and comfortable back there on her throne. Not sure if I could be that relaxed/comfortable back there with somebody else at the controls. :nervous:

Totally relaxed/comfortable with Terry at the controls.   :2vrolijk_21:   It's the other folks that made me a little  :nervous: on the Dragon.

Neither could I, Gary....but I'll say one thing for Suzanne, she completely trusts my ability, and is an excellent BSR, always doing the right things at the right time, like looking over the proper shoulder when we're in the twisties.  She has read some of my books on how to handle the bike, and she took particular note of the chapter on what the BSR should/should not do while back there.  She's equally good on back of the V too, even though she doesn't have her Throne... ;)  It makes a difference to have a BSR who is comfortable back there and not skeered...

It's easy to be a good BSR with you at the controls.   :2vrolijk_21:

Yep, I do love the VRod, especially for our run about trips on the weekends.   :)   Two bikes, two totally different rides.   :2vrolijk_21:

I agree.   :2vrolijk_21:

One thing I don't like about modern tech (digital photos) is that we tend not to have as many prints.

That will be a good winter day project.   :2vrolijk_21:

Like Porthole said, John....two or three companies on the Dragon most days and especially on the weekend.  Killboy is probably the best, but Zee Photos is out there too and got some other good shots of my ride that I have not received yet.  Just don't get distracted by the cameras... :nervous:  The Dragon does not lend itself well to doing anything but keeping your eyes on the road at all times.

That's for sure.   :2vrolijk_21:   That's what BSR's are for.   :D

Seegarz :2vrolijk_21:

gars...Suzanne had never been on the back of a bike since she was in her teens 'till we met.  I have several books on riding technique, suspension set up, etc, but probably one of the best is "Total Control" by Lee Parks.  Lee raced bikes, and the book is written from that perspective, but also has a lot about different styles of bikes and how they will handle/perform.  There is an entire chapter devoted to BSR's and what they should and should not do.  Some of the things are things nobody would do (sport bike, hanging off the bike, etc), but it is very informative and was helpful to Suzanne.  She read much of the entire book, so she would better understand how the bike works.  It made her more comfortable on the back, I think.  With the way the Ultra's back seat is, she's pretty much "locked in" to the backrest.  It also helps that she COMPLETELY trusts my abilities...it's like having another pair of eyes back there helping me look for the crazy cagers about to do unpredictable things.  We have a signal thing worked out where she doesn't do anything dramatic, but just touches my waist if she sees something I may not.  Usually I've seen it already, but I appreciate her being aware of what's going on around us.

When she's not asleep back there, that is... ;) ;D ;D

Ditto to what Terry said in reply #27.  Reading the book helped me a lot.   :2vrolijk_21:

I trust Terry COMPLETELY.   :)    As in a car, it's the other vehicles that one has to watch.   I try to watch out for cage drivers such as those who suddenly put on their blinkers to turn left if we are about to pass, etc.   Our signals seem to work well in addition to talking through our headsets.  Practice, practice, practice.   I've always been comfortable as a BSR, but I've learned what to do to make driving easier for Terry, especially on the slabs.  Sometimes that gets a little  :nervous:

Happy and Safe Trails to you and your Wife,

Suzanne
