Checked out a new 2008 CVO Ultra at the dealer Today
« on: August 11, 2007, 08:36:10 PM »

Rode into my local dealer today on my 07 SE Ultra, on the floor was a new Orange SE Ultra. I looked over the bike close. I was impressed. If the cost was not sooo great to switch, I would trade. First I really Like the new saddle, it is thicker, better for touring, the tourpack, again, better for touring, I like the ABS Brakes, I Liked the Paint, Overall I think the Motorcompany built a more serious long haul touring SE Ultra for 2008 Vs a more custom bike for 2007. Those of you buying a new 2008, I say, good choice.

I am curious about the seat. I have never found a stock seat that was worth a chit after 100 miles. It is a pity to spend 35K on a bike and then have to spend another thousand on a Corbin.

I have had my 08 SEUC for two weeks today.  Awesome ride.  I only have about 500 miles so far (would have more if it was not so stinking hot here).

Yes the seat is much thicker -- probably close to 2 inches thicker.  My wife was sceptical about how comfortable it would be when she first saw it.  She says it is actually more comfortable that the stock seat we had on our 02 Ultra.

The only problem I had with the new seat is that I am only 5' 8".  I have already lower the rear due to the thicker seat.

You will not be able to swap your pre-2008 seat for the 2008 seat.  The new seats are made different.  Instead of the front of the seat having the male portion fitting in to the slot, the new seat has the slot and to male portion is on the bike.

The color is different.  In the garage it looks more red -- out in the sun it looks very orange.  I think maybe it is red with orange metal flake? :nixweiss: :apple: :orange: :apple: :orange:

Hmmmmmmmm........sorta makes me wonder if the MOCO has some sort of partnering agreement with Corbin/Mustang. ::)

I did a demo ride today (http://www.cvoharley.com/smf/index.php?topic=15803.0)and saw the granite for the first time.  I liked it, but I'm sure it will be one of those things that some do and some don't.  My guess is that it will stay cleaner looking than the black.

The comfort on the seat was fine on a 25 minute demo ride, but I really thought that it looked cheap.  I don't know what look they were going for, but it just doesn't look as good as previous CVOs.  I failed to take a picture of the seat specifically, but maybe someone can take a shot and post it.

That silver and black SERK is what I have a deposit on. Hopefully it will come in next week. I was told that the touring line of bikes were 10 days behind schedule and the original ship date for mine was 8-3-07.
If you have any more of those pictures of the silver and black SERK, please post them. For some reason the HD sites photos never look like they do in real life. Is the gas gauge the standard type on the SERK?

The photos in the thread under "PICTURES" is all I've got.  I'm sure that this is the standard dash/indicators for the '08 SERK.  I can't imagine that the MOCO would put one thing out in the demo fleet and then ship something different.

When I was in Newport News, VA this past week, I stopped in at Hampton Roads H-D since it is just down the road from my hotel.  They had a black 08 SERK on the floor.  I'm really diggin' the granite color of the engine.  In my mind, it is by far the best looking engine color I've seen, but good looks won't get you down the road.  Just don't trust these new 110s.

The black/silver looks good to me in your pictures. Is there a hint of blue separating the colors? Did you like the silver/black color in person? The '07's had the flush mount gauge and gas cap but I guess they went back to the standard cap and gauge for '08. I thought they might do the led's on the gauge for '08.
Thanks for the pictures. Can you tell the extra 10 days is driving me nuts?(In a good way).

If I had known that you were going to have these questions, I would have paid more attention.  I've got the blue '07 SERK and knew that I wasn't looking for an '08.  The things that really got my attention were the dash set up, the lack of flush mounted gas cap and fuel gage, and the little ghost flames in the silver paint (the ghost flames were cool).  I can't tell you much more unless is shows up in the photos.

I would have to agree....the seat could look better.  Comfort is good though.  Going to do about 350 miles tomorrow.  Leaving about 6:00 am when it is cool.  The real test for the seat will be later in the day when it is forcasted to be around 102 (that's summertime in Oklahoma)

I went to the garage and shot a few pics of the seat and tried to get one of the granite finish on the engine.  I think the engine pic is going to look lighter than real life.
