Don do you have a part number for the crossover line with disconnect. Tired of getting fuel everywhere when the tank needs removing.

Now that you mention it Brian, I'll take that P/N too! Thanks Don! :2vrolijk_21:

That part number shown was the one I've used on the last three bikes.  Can't find the thing anyplace now though  :nixweiss: .

An eBay seller is marketing a line with a quick coupler in the middle.  But it uses the o-ring type connections on the end.  Never too fond of those.

Will look more this evening to try to find a vendor for the line I've used.  If not a plan B would be to use a common fuel line quick disconnect.  Motion Pro makes them in different sizes.  Have seen stainless pieces at FBO for use in aircraft applications too.  So there's stuff out there to easily fab a line.

Harley P/N 63020-04 (Braided Fuel Line) works just fine on SEEG even though it's listed only for a Dyna!

Don,

The crossover was manufactured by EZ-Flow.  I searched high and low last year and came to the conclusion that EZ-Flow no longer exists.  Some places still had parts in inventory, but by the time I tracked them down they didn't have the one for the touring tanks.  If you check Drag Specialties, Cycle Spot, etc. you will see what I mean.

Another alternative is to buy the quick disconnects from the actual manufacturer (CPC) and add them to whatever type of fuel line you prefer.  I personally went with regular rubber line covered with the black plastic protective sheath to maintain the look of the stock fuel line, but you could just as easily use stainless, chrome, or various color braided tubing.

I bought an extra fuel line to hook to the tank thinking I could use it to drain the tank. I thought if I snapped it to the tank fitting with a long hose hooked to it I  could turn on the ing switch and let the fuel pump, pump the tank empty. The pump would only run a couple of seconds before it shut off without the motor runing. That maybe a safety feture on the newer bikes.

Jerry

Precisely what I discovered Jerry.  I bought my line when the bike was about new.  So 2 1/2 years ago plus a little.  Then just called and ordered same as I had for the prior two or three bikes.  Now, no such luck.  At this point I'd do what you'e done.  Get a line to personal taste and stick that Motion Pro or someone else's could quick coupler in the middle.  Quite frankly this will cost a lot less too.  There was always a far markup on the EZ Flow lines compared to their cost of components.  I was just always too lazy to collect the pieces when I could buy it already assembled with machine pressed fittings.

I wish I had this info earlier. I just went through an exhaustive searh and came to the same conclusion Jerry. I've decided to stay with the rubber clamped hose w/the protective sheath. I don't remove the tank very often. I'll use the vise grips on the rubber hose when I do. It doesn't damage like the SS Braided hose does with the vise grips. And since this thread is really about Napalm's wifes gas line falling off. I'm bowing out of this crossover discussion now. ;)

The latest iteration of this fuel line has changed from a formed clampless design to a larger diameter line that is clamped at both ends. I am guessing here, but I believe that all early Delphi equipped machines run the clampless fuel line; my ’02 FLTR and my Wife’s ’02 Heritage both have them. I don’t know what year they changed to the clamped style line; apparently sometime after ’03. My machine has almost 55,000 miles and my Wife’s has just over 40,000 miles and the fuel lines on both machines are tight; although I will probably replace them anyway.

Take a look at your fuel line near the chrome fitting where it couples to the gas tank. If your line looks like the formed, clampless line in lower right area of the photo, you might consider having it replaced with the latest clamped style fuel line.

Thanks again to napalm for taking the time to share his experience.
