AJ,

Do you have City Navigator NA as one of the drop down options already? If not, that's the problem.
Ok, Now I see said the blind man...

AJ, you may need to call Garmin since you can't run the update CD. This was added when I did the update.

Ok, then you want the latest version of Mapsource to download to your computer?? I'm taking it as you already have Mapsource loaded on your computer and you just want to update it. If that's the case check here - MapSource software version 6.13.2 as of August 31, 2007. That is the latest version of Mapsource. To see what version you have now open Mapsource, click on help -> about and it should tell you what version you have.

Thanks for the link.   :2vrolijk_21:  When I tried to update from my existing MapSource it returned an error.  Using your link for a direct access to the download provided me access after downloading the updated version.  Now when I check for updates from MapSource it does not return an error message like before.

Still waiting for that Brown Truck!  At least I am not running down to the mail box anymore when I get home ::)

If you are trying to update Mapsource from the update feature in that program (Mapsource) you will get the error message. The only way I've been able to get the updates were to download them directly from Garmin and then run the install. Not sure why the program does this, but when I first tried to update I got the error message and Naitram told me just go to Garmin and dl/install the update directly. Since then that is the only way I do Mapsource updates.

It's weird. I tried getting the update from the program for weeks (yes, I have the prgram installed! ::) ), and kept getting the error. I tried again the other day and it worked. I never tried it from their website. ;)

Well, even though I updated Mapsource, it will not let me unlock the Version 8 Maps.  However, that takes me back to what the CS agent at Garmin said:  Even though I have not installed V-8, if there is a newer Version, they will not allow me to load V-8?????  Still no Brown Truck.  I work from home several days out of the week and just watch the Mr. Brown drive by each day without stopping!  :-\

Have you run WebUpdater recently to make sure all your firmware is up to date?

Binx got me a handheld portable for my B'Day 4 years ago. So far, I've never figured out how to use it, have my home address set when I open up Mapquest, do periodic updates to it, and have no clue whatsoever how to use the program either. So, if that's busted, guilty as charged. But I told her she wasted her money on it and I was right! Not a clue! Maybe these new-fangled touch screen jobs are easier to use. But that handheld thing requires a rocket scientist like Chuck to use it! :D

After downloading, it prompted me for that as well as opening Mapsource.  I will try that again though.

Mr. Brown finally arrived!
Guess I need to read back thru the thread for clarification on the instructions.  It says to indicate "no" to the question for the 25 character unlock code.  However, I thought when you do this it takes you to the page to purchase it.
A cold beer :drink: and a few page backs should source up the answer on this site.
