I've about got Wanda June dressed the way I want her now, and have done much to improve the ergonomics for myself. If the starter goes out, it'll get replaced with a chrome one, but I don't expect that...I do have the extended warranty though.
HID headlight is in the future.
Custom Dynamics front turn signals/running lights (to match the back).
That will complete the safety aspects of the bike.
Biggest thing in the future is motor work. I'm heavy into the research phase of that, but it will most likely end up being: Charcoal Powdercoated jugs/heads (SE103 heads, but highly modified internally); Diamond Cut same; Sized up a bit to a 107"; Gear drive cams to match whatever ends up being done to the heads; Different TB; Related parts to make things better and long lasting. Not looking for numbers, but expect them to be in the 120's when completed. Direct Link final tune. Nothing radical, but smoother, cooler, and quicker revving. Compression releases are very likely. If the runout is not within specs, all bets are off on what will happen.
I'm really quite happy with the bike as is, so some of this is still up in the air, but something must be done with the tensioners, so while I'm at it...you know the drill. It's got nearly 18K on it now, so the worry is beginning. I have a few bits and pieces collected for the above already.
Wouldn't mind the 6 speed, but that's not high on the list for me, as I tend to run the bike consistently from 2500 to 5000 rpm, and don't mind cruising in the 3200 range all day long when on trips. If I found some kind of "deal" on the 6 speed, I might reconsider.
The main thing in my mind is that this bike is a keeper for me...she's going nowhere. I was fortunate enough to get one with good paint, and have had no real issues with it, other than the recent regulator....chit like that happens. Only other problem I've had was brought on by inept dealer service, and that was easily remedied...I don't let them touch the bike any more, unless it's a warranty matter like the VR. Some may not like the 06 paint scheme, TP, etc, but I love it, and it is a unique look. I'll just keep changing parts as they wear out, and ride the bitch. Unless HD makes some major improvements to their QC, engineering, and committment to their customers, my next touring bike (an add to the stable, not a replacement) will probably be a German bike, like the K1200GT. But Wanda June will always be there...
On the SEVrod (her name is Scarlet): Custom Dynamics front and rear turn signals; install the heaters for the grips; perhaps a 5 gallon tank and a different bag arrangement so we can take one or two night trips on her. She's pretty, pretty, pretty damn sexy as is, IMO. And she is just an absolute blast to ride now that the suspension matches the performance of the engine. For the shorter rides we do, both Suzanne and I actually prefer hopping on the V. With only 800 of that color built in 06, she's a keeper too. I LOVE the paint on her!! It's like having a Corvette in the basement to take when it's appropriate.
