Greetings all, my first post on the CVO forums.

Paid MSRP in mid July for black ice 07 CVO Road King.   No prep fee, no handling charges, none of that.  Plus the owner (of Williams HD in Lebanon NJ) threw in a "pick out whatever leather jacket you want" for my wife, which was worth another 350 or so retail.

So not bad - but it probably doesn't hurt that I also bought a Night Rod Special from the same place only 3 months earlier.  Paid MSRP (plus the prep fee in this case) for that one.  Hence my screen name, btw - same one I use on the V-rod forums, helps me keep things straight.  I've got enough logins / passwords to remember....

Anyway, I think this dealer is terrific in terms of both sales and service.  The whole staff is really terrific to deal with, I recommend them highly.

Well things are getting even better...  I called around a few more dealerships before taking the leap at Steel City.  Much to my amazement, I found the CVO Ultra in White Pearl and Silver at Hale's Harley Davidson in Mansfield, Ohio.  They had it sitting in their shop and were selling it for MSRP with no set-up, shipping, documentation or prep fees.  Then, when I called back to tell him I'd like to add some additional accessories (trim rings around the lights, windshield chrome trim, etc.) they tell me "no problem, no charge".  I thought they meant no charge for the labor.  But they meant no charge for all the accessories and no charge for the labor to install.  Then they discounted the extended warranty and the 1K service and tossed in a couple of dealership shirts and a hat!.

I pick up the bike on Friday October 12th.   :orange: :apple: :carrot: :cucumber: :pineapple: :pepper: :bananarock: :mango:

I only wish we had a dealership like Hale's on the West Coast, they are very fair - I bought most of my parts from them at 20% off.  Congratulations and ride it safe!  Of the 70 some dealers in California, I don't think theres a one that would come close to the deal you received - you did well.

Softailer, that is a once in a live time deal and dealership.  Is Mansfield, Ohio a very small town?  It sounds like the owner is a good old country boy, country value's and his word is his contract.  Very few business men left like that any more.  Be proud to know a dealership like that.  That's a true blessing!   :cherry:

Milford - Hales H-D in Mansfield (across from the State Pen) is owned and run by the two sons of the father/founder.  One of the owners came out to meet with me after I signed the paperwork.  He told me that if I were to bring my bike back there for service (they're about an hour away from Columbus), he'd be happy to give me the keys to his truck so I could run out and get a bite to eat while they did the work on my bike.

That sealed the deal.  Above and beyond good pricing, fair dealings and an incredibly well-stocked showroom, this guy is honoring his family and his father.  It's nice to see that there are still business people out there who value something more than $'s.  From now on, all my bikes come from Hales and they all go back there when it's time to get 'em serviced.

If anyone out there is looking for a CVO Ultra, I know they've got two more coming in.  Call 'em at (419) 522-8602 and ask for Jeff.  I don't usually do advertisements like this, but these guys deserve the publicity.  They remember the way business used to be done.

What did you pay for each package or is that a standard price nation wide?

The guys at Hales are great, I purchased my second HD from them. Lee the owner will do anything for you and they sell a lot of bikes out of the area because of their selection and service.

Well, I've watched this post since it started and wanted to post, but hadn't picked up my bike yet.  In fact, I didn't have a purchase agreement -- only my $500 deposit on it and a phone conversation with the sales rep.  The bike took a while to come in (it's been a rough 2 months for me since it was *supposed* to come in.  In the meantime, the sales rep I dealt with left.  I just picked it up today, and the notes were all there from the conversation we had.

Here's the breakdown:

2008 FLHTCUSE3 $34,250ish (don't have the paperwork in front of me)
Delivery (pre-printed on purchase agreement) $160
Tax $2200ish
$36,500 OTD

Plus all this for free
$500.00 worth of free rain gear (they e-mailed a web coupon last night and honored it for the purchase)
$914 for 5 year extended warranty (paid lowest price they would go for 4 years, and by buying at the time of bike purch. they throw in 1 extra year)
T-shirts
1000 mile service

I think I did OK.  It's still a LOT of $$, but the ride home in 50 degree temps was GREAT.  Got to try out the heated seat and grips.  Now I just need to get the heated kneecaps installed and I'll be fine.  How much do chaps help?  I think I'll get a pair.

Just how much cold weather riding you planning to do? Chaps help a bit, but I swear by my heated jacket liner, pant liner and gloves. I've ridden in 17 degree weather and been plenty comfortable.

Probably more than I ever have before.  I've got a lot of riding to get out of my system before the snow flies -- and probably some on dry days even after it starts snowing.  On this day last year we had 8" of snow on the ground, but there were plenty of good riding days after that.  I will look at the heated gear.  Do you buy the H-D stuff or is there another brand I should look at? :-\
